Resident Evil Requiem is filled with fun little Easter Eggs and references. From Leon being married, to hints about the next game in the series, there’s a lot for fans to find. There are also some things that you’ll probably never solve on your own, like the overly complicated final puzzle of the game.
However, there are some details that you’ll probably never see. While standing idle in the game is a good way to get bitten by a zombie, doing so in one of the safe rooms reveals a fun little detail. If Grace or Leon stand motionless in one of the rooms, it triggers a gun reloading idle animation.
Even Leon’s Reloads Are Over The Top
As spotted by Suzi Hunter on Twitter, a rather flamboyant reload animation plays when you don’t move in one of the safe rooms. Some smooth movement shows either of them unloading the clip and even popping out the one in the chamber in style. While that seems completely normal for Leon, watching Grace do it is a bit funny.
In fact, it seems each gun has a unique reload animation, including Grace’s handgun, Requiem, and even the machine pistol. Don’t worry, though, Leon or Grace will automatically reload the weapon as soon as you step out of the safe room. It would be an absolute troll on Capcom’s part if they unloaded the weapon while you were away and then found yourself in hot water.
As for why there’s an animation like this where you spend the least amount of time? Well, that’s something you’ll have to ask Capcom. The movements look pretty smooth and suave, so it’s puzzling why they would hide them under several layers like this. Perhaps a ‘tactical reload’ modifier for new game plus would have been a better use of these animations?
The level of detail in Resident Evil Requiem is frankly staggering. For instance, there’s a very easy way to kill Chunk if you pay attention to the notes you find in The Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center.
