Longtime gamers know just how amazing the original Tomb Raider trilogy on the original PlayStation, which made it especially awesome when Aspyr announced and then released a remaster of the iconic games back in 2024, bringing them to modern platforms with modern sensibilities in the form of Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Trilogy.
However, if there is one gripe about the game, it’s the fact that it launched without a Platinum trophy. Specifically, the title, which was a dual release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, mysteriously did not have a Platinum trophy for the PS5 version, but did have three individual Platinum trophies for each of the three games on the PS4 version.
Tomb Raider Remastered Is A Bittersweet Reminder Of How Games Used To Be
The medium has changed so much in the past three decades – for better and for worse.
In other words, you can unlock all 268 Trophies in the game, and still not end up with a Platinum, and we all know how serious Trophy hunters are about their Platinums.
Yeah, we still can’t explain that one either. Because the follow-up, Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered, does have one Platinum in its list, so it’s not entirely impossible.
Now, via a new update, even more Trophies are being added to the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Trilogy, but there is still not a Platinum in sight.
Everything But The Kitchen Sink A Shiny Platinum
As first spotted by Push Square, a new update coming to Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Trilogy to coincide with its native Nintendo Switch 2 port has gone live across all consoles, and it bundles in a Challenge Mode, 10 new outfits and — wait for it — a whopping 15 new Trophies to collect, none of which are a Platinum.
If there’s insult to injury, then it’s the fact that, according to PSNProfiles, all the 15 Trophies are Bronze, even though they have some rather hefty requirements, like Complete the “Colosseum” level in Challenge Mode on CR20 without killing anyone.
At this point, if a new content update and patch wasn’t enough to force a Platinum trophy, then it’ll likely never come. So, if you do find yourself trying to hunt for Trophies in Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, then your best bet is to play the PS4 version. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck with a laundry list of digital collectibles and nothing to commemorate them.
