This Vital Change Has Shocked Fans

Nothing unveiled its two new smartphones for 2026: the Nothing Phone 4a and the Nothing Phone 4a Pro. Both are mid-range devices – there is no new high-end model this year. We were there and show you the new models in detail.

Both new smartphones run on Nothing OS 4.1, based on Android 16. The user interface is strongly oriented towards a stock Android look. However, it is supplemented by custom widgets, a few graphical adjustments, and the so-called Essential Space. Essential Space functions as a central collection point for notes, screenshots, and voice recordings.

Nothing Phone 4a: Typical Design With Color Options

The Nothing Phone 4a continues to rely on the transparent design typical of the brand. The eye-catching light strips of its predecessors have largely disappeared, but a small LED strip remains. The color palette is new: in addition to black and white, the device is also available in blue and pink for the first time. The colored, transparent plastic is reminiscent of iconic designs from the 1990s, such as the first iMac or the Game Boy.

The display measures 6.78 inches across diagonally and is based on an AMOLED panel with full HD resolution. The camera features are particularly exciting: in this price range, the Phone 4a is probably one of the few devices with actual optical zoom. The triple-camera configuration consists of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.

Nothing Phone 4a Pro: Aluminum Trumps Transluscence

The Nothing Phone 4a Pro takes a different design approach. Instead of a transparent back, Nothing opts for an aluminum unibody chassis. However, you don’t have to live without the typical look: The camera module is still made of transparent plastic and integrates a round pixel display that is reminiscent of the flagship model from 2025 — albeit with a reduced number of pixels.

Although both devices are similar in size, the Pro model offers a slightly larger 6.83-inch display with narrower edges. The camera resolution remains identical (50+50+8 megapixels), but higher-quality sensors are used. The processor also delivers noticeably more power and supports eSIM.

Prices and Availability in the US

After CEO Carl Pei warned of rising prices in advance due to the global memory shortage, reality tells a different picture. The Nothing Phone 4a starts at €349, making it a mere €30 more expensive than its predecessor. The price-to-performance ratio remains an attractive proposition compared to Samsung and Xiaomi’s offerings. The 4a Pro is also only slightly more expensive and now costs €479 — an increase of €20. Only the Nothing 4a Pro will be sold in the US for $499.

The Nothing Phone 4a is now available in Eurozone and other countries while pre-orders for the 4a Pro will begin on March 13 in the US. These following variants are available:

  • Phone 4a Pro: $499 on Amazon US, 8+128 GB
  • Phone 4a Pro: $599 on Amazon US, 12+256 GB
