Knights Of The Old Republic Remake Could Be Re-Revealed Later This Year

The KOTOR remake was announced five years ago, and all we’ve heard since (aside from it changing developers) are vague platitudes that it still exists. Just yesterday, Saber Interactive chief creative officer, Tim Willits, once again assured that “it is still in development,” but no, he can’t tell us anything. Thankfully, leakers can.

YouTuber and reputable KOTOR remake leaker 100% Star Wars responded to Willits’ comment and the doubts surrounding it, claiming to have seen footage and assuring that things are going smoothly — in fact, they alleged that the remake could be re-revealed later this year if all goes well.

Can’t say other than I think they’re getting things right holistically.

“I’ve seen Saber’s KOTOR remake… and I’m extremely impressed with most of what they’re building,” they posted on X. “Having seen both, I think the canceling of Aspyr’s remake with Saber starting from scratch was the right choice. If things continue smoothly, possible reveal this year…”

KOTOR Remake Was Originally “Much More Action Oriented,” With Combat Similar To Jedi: Fallen Order And A Final Fantasy 7-Style Timer

We haven’t seen anything of the original project, outside of leaked concept art, and all that really clued us into was that Kashyyyk would have looked like Kashyyyk. However, 100% Star Wars claims to have details on the combat, alleging that “Aspyr’s remake WAS much more action oriented.”

“I would liken it to a poor man’s Fallen Order with FF7 pause mechanics,” they explained in a reply. “I can’t speak on Saber’s though, but you can read into this how you will.”

Emphasis on ‘was’ is an interesting note, though how exactly the combat has changed, and what Saber’s version of the KOTOR remake looks like, remains unclear. As for Sony’s involvement (remember, this was announced at a State of Play way back), 100% Star Wars doesn’t know whether they’re still involved, but said that “My feeling is no.”
