Meta wants to earn more money. That’s why the developer behind WhatsApp is now working on new features that you will only be able to use with an active subscription in future. Is a subscription apocalypse looming for the popular messenger?

The launch of advertising in WhatsApp. If you reside in the EU, the messenger wants to offer you a subscription model that can be deactivated in your status and channels. WABetaInfo recently reported on several features that will be behind a payment barrier. They are minor features for now, but expect it to expand in the future.
WhatsApp With a Subscription: Developing Features
Back in February, the generally well-informed site reported on a range of new options in WhatsApp. It was mentioned several personalization features were discovered in a iOS version preview. These included 14 new app icons which be selected after agreeing to a subscription.
Different colored themes were also part of the new WhatsApp version. At that time, there were 18 new colors to choose from, which replaces the classic green if desired.
Now, a new report about an extension of an existing feature has surfaced. This feature could be an actual improvement for some users.
