League of Legends is full steam ahead for the upcoming Shyvana rework, something that’s been discussed by Riot for almost a decade at this point.
After a prominent spot in the pre-season cinematic and a flashy trailer announcing her rework, Shyvana has now had her updated abilities and voice lines revealed.
Most of the Half-Dragon’s new lines concern the sense of duty she feels towards Demacia, a country that took her in despite their mistrust of magic at the behest of Jarvan IV, the crown prince.
Demacia, The Home I’ve Chosen
It’s long been hinted that there’s something more than platonic going on between Shyvana and the prince, and although there’s nothing explicit in Shyvana’s new voice lines, you can tell she directs a lot of emotion towards Jarvan IV.
“I believed in you, Jarvan. I will not make that same mistake again,” is what Shyvana says when encountering an enemy Jarvan IV for the first time.
In a similar vein, “You told me I wasn’t a monster, Jarvan. But now you make me one,” is what Shyvana says after killing Jarvan. It’s ominous, but you can see the personal relationship at play here.

League of Legends’ Shyvana Has Finally Been Updated, Five Years After Riot First Mentioned Changing Her
Forged in fury.
Shyvana saved a wounded Jarvan IV from a battlefield and flew him to the border of Demacia. Though the Demacians were initially sceptical, Shyvana soon became known and respected as the prince’s bodyguard. She is constantly in an internal conflict with her bestial nature, and worries about losing control and compromising the ideals of her adopted home.
On a more positive note, Shyvana will exclaim, “Jarvan, I will guard your life as you would guard mine,” when playing on the same team as Jarvan IV.
Though these lines could be interpreted as nothing more than a deep friendship, one of Smolder’s voice lines is “Huh. Why’s that armoured guy smell like dragon?” which could imply that Jarvan and Shyvana are more intimate than the Demacian public believe.
Speaking of which, Shyvana also has interactions with the young dragon Smolder. She’ll say, “Who is this… brazen lost hatchling?” when first encountering Smolder and, “Return to your mother’s nest, child,” after killing him.
She also has interactions with Aurelion Sol, Milio, Poppy and Quinn, as well as generic interactions with other Demacian characters.
Shyvana’s rework will release during Patch 25.6, likely in two weeks.
