Call Of Duty Insider TheGhostOfHope Will No Longer Report Leaks After Legal Action

TheGhostOfHope (a.k.a. Hope) is one of the most prolific and trusted leakers when it comes to Call of Duty. They’ve previously reported on confidential internal decisions like Black Ops 7 Zombies remaking the Alpha Omega Nuketown map, Modern Warfare 4 being a complete copy of the original Modern Warfare 2, and most recently, a standalone Zombies game for 2026. However, they have announced that they will be hanging up their boots thanks to a legal notice from Activision.

Hope announced this decision on their X handle, revealing that Activision has put legal pressure on them to stop disclosing such information, and that they will be complying. The renowned insider will still chat about the Call of Duty franchise, but don’t expect any more inside information from them.

“Activision has legally demanded that I stop leaking and disseminating confidential information related to Call of Duty/Activision and I am complying with their demands,” wrote Hope on Twitter. “Still gonna stick around and chat about Official Call of Duty info and anything not related to leaks/confidential information. Cheers for these past few years.”

This development suspiciously lines up with Call of Duty denying Hope’s leak about the standalone Zombies game. A lot of outlets, including TheGamer, shared Ghost’s leak, but it’s very rare that Call of Duty has come out to deny one of their leaks. The legal notice and announcement of Ghost’s retirement comes just eight days after this.

I’m just speculating here, but the timeline seems a bit suspicious to me. Could Ghost’s leak actually have caused internal issues at Activision, forcing them to change plans and send the leaker a cease and desist? The legal notice probably bars them from sharing information about the legal notice itself, so we’ll probably never know.

While it’s a loss for the community, it’s probably best that Hope complies with the legal notice, as Activision’s lawyers would crush them. Perhaps we’ll see a new leaker emerge from this: TheGhostOfGhostOfHope?

Activision has admitted that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 fell short, and it won’t make the same mistakes again.
