B.J. Blazkowicz and the Wolfenstein series have been pretty quiet for the past few years. MachineGames found success with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, but the studio has revealed that it will be going back to make Wolfenstein 3. Sources also claim that development is already underway.
While no other details have officially been revealed, it seems some story details were revealed thanks to a casting call. According to MP1st, the project’s current codename is ‘Valkyrie’, with Performance Director Tom Keegan and Casting Director Emily Schweber attached to it. The casting call itself is for a character named Sofiya, but that will probably change in the final game.
Wolfenstein 3 Plot Details Revealed
Sofiya is described as an orphan around the ages of 8–11 from Ukraine. She has a dog called Ralph, and both of them form a bond with Blazkowicz and his crew, traveling with them throughout the game. This also confirms that Blazkowicz will indeed be returning to the series. There’s also a short description of Sofiya in the casting call.
“While initially suspicious and traumatized by war, she blooms under the care of the resistance (possibly referring to the Kreisau Circle) as a strong-willed survivor.” Performance capture for the role will begin in April, with further shoots scheduled for later in 2026, possibly extending into 2027.
If Wolfenstein 3 Is Real, It Needs To Finally Let Us Take Down Hitler
According to recent reports, Wolfenstein 3 is in production at MachineGames.
We don’t yet know what Sofiya’s role will be exactly. Perhaps she’ll be rescued by Blazkowicz and drafted into his crew. The shoot dates also give us a clearer idea of when the game could possibly launch, and it’s definitely not before late 2027. No other details were offered in the casting call. Also, at the risk of reading too much into a codename, Operation Valkyrie was a famous internal plot to assassinate Hitler. There’s even a Tom Cruise movie about it. Perhaps we’ll finally be able to take him down in this one?
As if a new Wolfenstein game wasn’t enough, we’re also getting a live-action Amazon series based on the game. It will be produced by the same studio behind the Fallout series: Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s Kilter Films.
