Nintendo has been all over the place when it comes to which Switch games it has chosen for Switch 2 upgrades. Eight months in, and the Xenoblade Chronicles games have been suspiciously absent from its Switch 2 upgrade plans. That has now changed as Xenoblade Chronicles X isn’t only getting a Switch 2 upgrade, but it’s available today.
In typical Nintendo fashion, the announcement that Xenoblade Chronicles X’s definitive edition is getting a Switch 2 version today was shared on social media out of nowhere. The Switch 2 edition of the game will be available through the new console’s eShop today, while those who already own the game on Switch will be able to upgrade to the Switch 2 edition for a lower cost.
The Switch 2 version of the definitive edition will let you play the game at 60fps in 4K resolution, meaning the already pretty great-looking remaster is finally going to look even better once you get it running on the newer console. The trailer revealing the current-gen edition of last year’s remaster says the digital version is available now, although the store listing doesn’t appear to be live at the time of typing this.
