Once you get past the prologue of High On Life 2, you’ll find out that your main goal revolves around defeating multiple members of the Rhea Foundation so that you can weaken them and prevent humans from losing a court case. As you do this, you’ll stumble upon James Stevenson’s bounty, who’s the financial wizard of the company.
This will be one of your hardest bounties in the game as it involves a constant series of puzzles and combat challenges. To beat James Stevenson, you’ll first have to find a way to reach his penthouse and then go through an entirely new world with a little helper.
How To Reach James Stevenson’s Penthouse
After you start James Stevenson’s bounty, you’ll first have to reach the Arcadia and use the tracker to reach his penthouse, where your entry will be denied. Go out of the penthouse and you’ll see a giant truck nearby. Use Travis and Jan’s levitate ability to send this truck up, and you can then use the mattress nearby to jump on it.
Past this point, use your skateboard and the tracker to follow the path until you get stuck in an area again. In this area, when you use the tracking ability, you’ll see a big structure in the middle get highlighted. From here, you’ll have to activate these structures to move past certain areas.
For the first structure, you can jump on a shed between the benches near the highlighted structure and then press a button above it to activate the bridge. Take the bridge to the other side, where you’ll stumble upon another puzzle. Here, you can simply activate a green-colored flower by shooting it to spawn a platform, which can be used to jump across.
In the next part, start by hitting the green flower in front of the fan that you can clearly hear in the area. Jump on the platform created and then use Sweezy’s ability on the fan to slow it down, which lets you get through. You can activate the button inside to open the bridge in this area.
Next, activate the other platform and use it to go around to the created bridge, which lets you progress further. Keep using the flowers to get higher up until you reach the next puzzle.
You can start the next puzzle by hitting the green flower high up in the area, which opens a door nearby. Go through this door, activate the switch on your right, and then use the blob in the left room to get up higher. Use Sweezy’s ability to slow down the fan here and get through, which lets you cross the bridge.
In the next part, activate the nearby platform and then use Gus’s ability on the wall nearby with orange spots on it. This lets you get further up and into the last puzzle that you have to solve before reaching James Stevenson’s penthouse.
In this area, you can start by slowing the fan on the right and taking the blob inside. Put this blob near the wall where you can see a small window with goop all around it above. After that, shoot the structure in the middle until the two blue cells are both on the right side.
Finally, pull out Sheath and use his ability to connect the starting point of a generator with these two cells and then the blob. Finally, you have to jump up the blob and hit the flower inside to activate the final point of this relay. This will open the door below, where you can activate the two bridges and use them to reach the penthouse.

What To Do In James Stevenson’s Penthouse?
In James’ penthouse, the main puzzle revolves around the two giant paintings you see in the area. However, if you want some extra lore, you can head over to the right side of the room and interact with the phone on the table. Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to head inside the two paintings and get a book from each.
You can simply run into the paintings to get teleported. Here’s what you have to do in them:
- One painting takes you to a washroom, where you can easily pick the book up from the shelf nearby and go back out. You can also open the locked door and come back in right after to get an easter egg.
- For the second painting, you have to wait for the dialogue to finish and you can then pick the book up on the main table.
Once you have both the books, put them in the bookshelf to the right of the firepit and you’ll find the third painting, which takes you to the main area for this bounty.
How To Reach James Stevenson
After going through the final painting, follow the straight path until you run into a dark cave, and keep holding forward through it. You’ll reach an area where you’ll have to defeat a few enemies and free a little friend. Once you defeat the enemies, you can ask Apples about different lore bits, and after that, he’ll help you through the maze.
When you’re done with the dialogue, Apples will stand beside the dark exit you’re supposed to take. Once again, keep holding forward once you enter the dark part. The correct order for exits after this are the following:
- The path right in front of where you enter the second area.
- The path on the left close to where Apples is hovering.
- Path on the right.
You’ll then reach the Prisemeria, where you can cross the river by slowing down the drifting logs with Sweezy’s ability. You can then use the blob to get on the higher platform on the right first, where you’ll find a Luglox, and then jump across. Once again, to get through the waterfall, you’ll have to slow down the falling logs.
Continue past this area while defeating enemies and slowing down the logs every time you go past the waterfall. When you’re higher up, you’ll also have to use Sheath’s ability to cross one part of the waterfall, followed by Gus’ ability in the orange area to go further up.
Once you’re past all the fighting, you’ll finally reach the town where the guards will stop you and tell you that Apples is a bad apple. Here, you can choose any option, but if you choose to trust Apples instead, he can help you out later in this story and in the final bounty as well.
After you reach the town, you just have to follow the tracker until you reach the execution area. On your path here, you’ll find a bunch of Luglox inside homes and hidden areas. It’s highly recommended to get them all. When you’re close to the execution area, you’ll have to use Gus’ ability on the generator cells nearby to open the door.
How To Stop The Execution
Once you’re in the execution area, your main goal will be to stop it to attract the wizard. You’ll have two ways to do this. First, you can try to convince three citizens that the execution is wrong and have an easier time later, or second, you can fail to convince them and have a harder time later.
To convince these citizens, here are all the options you should pick:

Regardless of whether you succeed or fail in convincing the crowd, you’ll have to free Bowie yourself afterward, which makes James Stevenson appear. After this, you have to go through a bunch of platforming using your tracker while defeating enemies. If you see anything blocking your path with strange markings, you can use Bowie’s ability and shoot at the mark through it to go past.
As you go through the path and reach the Blue Wizard’s Castle, he’ll come up to you and start taking a quiz. However, you can completely ignore this and use Bowie’s ability on the strange markings near the top left and the top right side of the gate. This will let you get inside and reach the final fight.
How To Defeat James Stevenson
Once you reach the boss fight chamber with James Stevenson in it, you’ll quickly notice that he’s just going to sit there and mock you since you can’t normally hit him. To start this fight, you’ll have to use Bowie’s ability while aiming at the wizard’s location to reveal another strange mark. Hit this mark and the fight starts.
Throughout this fight, you’ll have to use Bowie’s ability to reveal the giant wizard’s weakspots and hit them, which leads to him revealing an orb inside. Hitting this orb takes away the wizard’s health. You can still hit the weakspots without Bowie’s ability, but it’s going to be much more difficult.
During this fight, you can use the pillars in the battle area to dodge most of the wizard’s attacks.
Once you defeat James Stevenson, all the people in his world will come knocking at your door. This is the point where Apples will come back to help you if you decided to trust him before. Here, you can either take the blame or let Apples take it for you to finish the bounty.
