When TT Games first unveiled Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, the PC specs were surprisingly intense for a Lego game, demanding at least 32GB of RAM for the optimal experience. However, amid ballooning RAM prices, TT Games has further optimized the game, reducing this requirement to a more reasonable 16GB.
“As part of our ongoing testing for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on PC, we have revised our recommended hardware specifications from 32GB RAM down to 16GB RAM. Please note, our PC specs at this stage are not final. We will be continuing to optimize and make improvements as we move closer to launch,” the Steam announcement reads.
16GB is still rich for a Lego game, considering the target audience (for comparison, The Skywalker Saga only required 8GB), but it’s a step in the right direction. And as TT Games noted, optimization has not ended, so perhaps we’ll see the minimum specs fall even further.
Roughly 35 Percent Of PC Players Have The Recommended Graphics Card Or Better
While the lower RAM requirement is a positive, there’s still the RTX 3080 to worry about. As per the updated Steam page, the studio now recommends the following specifications for a smooth experience:
- 64-bit processor
- Windows 11
- Intel Core i7-12700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
- 16GB RAM
- Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, 10GB or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, 16GB
- 50GB of available space
- SSD (required)
The reason that the RTX 3080 is worrying is that RAM isn’t the only component skyrocketing in price; the cost of GPUs is also set to rise “significantly” this year.
Already, an RTX 3080 rig with 16GB of RAM will set you back roughly $1,200—$1,700 or more when buying a pre-built PC, thanks in part to President Trump’s tariffs, so the recommended specs are still intense for a Lego game.
What’s worse, as per the Steam Hardware & Software Survey (January 2026), the vast majority of players have 8GB of RAM, while only roughly 35 percent have an RTX 3080 equivalent or higher, locking most of the PC playerbase out of a Lego game.
Legacy of the Dark Knight launches in just over three months on May 29, so it remains to be seen how much more the team can optimize, but it’s clear that work still needs to be done considering that Lego games are aimed at a young audience, not enthusiast PC players.
