Over the past two years, Bloober Team has done a phenomenal job of rebuilding its image, largely due in part to how masterfully the Silent Hill 2 Remake was received. So when the team began teasing a new game announcement for Valentine’s Day, loads of gamers became understandably excited about the prospect of another title.
Well, we’re here to inform you that the title has been revealed, and contrary to tons of theories, it’s actually another Layers of Fear game, specifically Layers of Fear 3.
As revealed during a 10th anniversary stream, Layers of Fear 3 is officially coming. An official website has been set up, too, with some cool text, including the jumbled letters that were initially part of the countdown.
“Some Things Never Leave The Walls. They Only Learn To Wait.”
O Rose, thou art sick. The invisible worm, That flies in the night In the howling storm: Has found out thy bed Of crimson joy: And his dark secret love Does thy life destroy. William Blake — The Sick Rose
When Layers of Fear 3 does release, it’ll be the fourth Layers of Fear title to be released by Bloober Team. The original Layers of Fear was released in 2016, followed by a sequel, Layers of Fear 2, in 2019. However, that original title was eventually remade in 2023.
It’s confusing, we know.

Silent Hill F Selling Better Than 2 Is Great News For Your Favorite Franchise
Remakes often rule the roost. Not this time.
That original title essentially put Bloober on the map, so regardless of how disappointing the end result is, it is nice to see them returning to the Layers of Fear franchise.
Fans Had Hope For Something Else
In the moments following the countdown reveal, theories about what the game was begun flying and some of them were rather convincing. Remothered, a remake of Eternal Darkness or a sequel to The Darkness, which we haven’t seen since 2012, were among the most popular immediate theories.
No theory was more prevalent than a remake of Rule of Rose, and given the amount of times the words “Rose” and “Rule” were referenced, you can’t blame them. However, shortly after that theory began gaining steam, Bloober themselves cut it down, then went a bit further by saying that what was going to be announced wasn’t a remake of any kind.
That essentially cut down every other theory that existed.
Disappointing or not, Bloober has been on a roll lately, so perhaps they deserve the benefit of the doubt.
