Mewgenics: Zodiac Boss Guide

Mewgenics: Zodiac Boss Guide

Mewgenics is quite a large game with many things to see and do, spanning across several acts that introduce unique areas and even more challenging bosses than the last. Once you think you’ve seen it all, they will throw a curveball at you, leaving you dazed, very disturbed, yet enjoying every single second of it. It somehow keeps getting better, and Act Two’s Desert region is more than enough proof of that.

Act Two is a substantial step up from the previous one in terms of challenge, with Zodiac being a very challenging encounter that will likely stop most on their first attempt. But, as is usual, figuring him out is part of the puzzle, and once you do that, he will be a walk in the park. Just ignore all the bullet holes and blood!

Zodiac Overview

Being one of many final bosses in the Desert region, you can bet your dollar that Zodiac will give you one hell of a fight to prevent you from advancing to new regions. He’s nimble, has practically unlimited range, and deals SO much damage thanks to his revolver. If you’re not using everything and anything to your advantage during this encounter, you will have a very bad time, and that’s putting it lightly.

For this encounter, you will need to bring your A-Game and a solid team composition along with it, which means a Thief, Hunter, Tank, and Cleric. We brought a Necromancer our first time instead of a Thief, and don’t. Just. Don’t. With that cleared up, we guarantee this will give the most success, as you can heal units who get popped by Zodiac, while also landing crucial attacks on him, wasting his shots, making for the perfect formula for success.

We suppose the Fighter will also work well here, but we feel the Thief will be your best bet, as getting behind him will be a task and a half if you’re trying to do it manually. Nonetheless, you will need a dedicated close-quarter DPS, a ranged DPS, then your defensive Tank, and a wonderful healing Cleric!

How To Defeat Zodiac

All party members celebrating after outshooting Zodiac and defeating him in Mewgenics.

Now we’re off to the races, and Zodiac is ready to shoot anything that moves, which is bad news for us, considering how much damage each shot deals. But fear not, you can have him consistently waste his ammunition as you inch ever slightly closer to him, allowing you to pounce on him at the perfect moment to deal a large chunk of damage.

It won’t be easy, but it will get the job done so long as you’re patient and calculated. Getting impatient or panicking if he lands a shot on you is a recipe for disaster. Take things slow, plan out your movements, and use our recommended units to their fullest potential, and you will walk away victorious!

Zodiac – Crazed Shot

The first thing you will realize in this encounter is that Zodiac shoots everything that moves, or at least in the general direction of it. If anything is in his line of sight and it moves, he will shoot it, making it very tricky and irritating to move around the arena to land a hit on him. Fortunately, there are several ways to handle this that will put you in the driver’s seat.

Since Zodiac wields a Revolver, he only has six shots, allowing you to use them all up during your turns, forcing him to reload. But, how do you do this if you only have four units? Well, if your Hunter or other units can summon Familiars, get them into the mix, as Zodiac will shoot at them the moment they move. Furthermore, whenever you move, he will shoot at you as well, but that shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Observe the map, and you will see many tall objects in your way, including upright tires, boxes, cacti, and more. Move behind these objects to draw Zodiac’s fire, having him shoot the environment instead, wasting his shots. Not only will you be getting closer to him, but he will eventually have to reload. Once in range, have your Hunter land several attacks on him, then rush him with your Tank since they can take a shot to get up close and personal to deliver a devastating strike!

Zodiac – Reload

Zodiac creating distance before reloading his Revolver in Mewgenics.

After Zodiac runs out of ammunition, he will create a lot of space between your units and himself before reloading, forcing you to go through the whole rigmarole yet again. However, this time, there may be even fewer objects for you to hide behind to draw his fire, making Familiars shine bright here. Don’t rush anything here, as the only units you really care about here are your Thief and Hunter.

If you can get your Hunter up just far enough to launch even more Familiars at him, as well as their normal attacks, you will deal a considerable amount of damage. Moving your other units behind cover will still draw his fire, even if he clearly misses, which is excellent. From here, you can teleport behind him with your Thief and deliver a devastating backstab, dropping his life considerably!

Your Goal – Use Familiars And Cover

Zodiac shooting a stray Leech Familiar, essentially wasting his ammunition on it in Mewgenics.

Closing things out, you will be in a constant rotation of scrambling for cover, calling Familiars to sacrifice themselves for the greater good, all while inching closer and closer to Zodiac. If you have abilities that inflict status ailments such as Bleed, Poison, or even Slow, use them when possible, as you will need to use everything at your disposal to end this thing.

Under no circumstances should you move your Cleric without something, or at the very least your Tank, in front of them, as their heals will be crucial for your survival. If you have a Thief with the ability to teleport behind Zodiac, large chunks of this encounter will be trivialized, which you should take full advantage of. Other than that, use your Tank to absorb crucial shots to get other units into key positions (such as your Hunter), deal damage, wait for him to reload, and rinse and repeat until he’s defeated!
