YapYap is the kind of game that feels like it was designed to be played with friends, ideally while everyone is yelling and miscasting spells. Multiplayer is at the heart of the experience, but some of its systems are not immediately obvious when you first jump in. From getting a party together to understanding how the game handles cooperation behind the scenes, a little preparation goes a long way toward smoother sessions.
If you plan on diving into YapYap with other players, it helps to know how things work before the madness begins. This guide walks through the essential multiplayer mechanics so you can spend less time troubleshooting and more time conjuring disaster with your favorite wizards.
How To Invite Friends
Once you load into a game, head inside the wizard tower and look toward the middle of the room, where you will find an orb. Interacting with this orb opens the Steam invite interface, which allows you to send game invites to people on your friends list.
You must be Steam friends with someone in order to invite them. A single lobby can support up to five players total.
If you are the one receiving an invite, make sure you are currently on the lobby screen when you accept it. Accepting an invite while already inside a run may prevent the game from properly placing you into your friend’s lobby.
When everything works correctly, you should be pulled straight into the same lobby and appear inside the wizard tower alongside the rest of the group.

Is It Crossplay?
At the moment, YapYap does not support crossplay or cross-progression. The game is only available on Steam, which means all players must be on PC or Steam Deck and using Steam to play together.
There is no way to link progress between platforms or join friends on other systems, so every multiplayer session happens within the same Steam ecosystem.
How To Revive Friends
If a teammate dies during a run, they are not gone forever. To revive them, your group must locate the summoning room. This is a large chamber featuring a circular platform in the center, surrounded by large statue faces along the walls. It’ll appear in different spots on each map, so you’ll need to search for it.
You do not need to drag your fallen friend’s body onto the circular platform. They’ll appear there automatically.
After entering, large red letters will appear on the screen. These letters function just like spellcasting prompts. Use your microphone to clearly recite the words as they appear, following the same rules you use when casting any other spell in the game. Successfully completing the chant will revive your teammate and allow them to rejoin the action.
