How To Unlock The True Ending In Code Vein 2

How To Unlock The True Ending In Code Vein 2

From the offset of Code Vein 2, you are given your mission – to defeat the heroes guarding the seals on the Resurgence so that you can destroy it permanently. And to do so, you have to perform quite a bit of time travel.

There are some twists in the story by the end, though it always revolves around the fate of the Resurgence, and the Luna Rapacis that holds it. And that fate can unfold in a few evolving ways.

How Many Endings Are There?

In total, Code Vein 2 has three endings for you to unlock. These are as follows:

  • A Hero’s End
  • Luna Fraterna
  • Miraculous Bonds

A Hero’s End is the default ending to the game, while Luna Fraterna and Miraculous Bonds act more like expansions upon that first one, rather than being wholly unique endings in their own right.

Can You Unlock Every Ending In A Single Playthrough?

The bane of open-world games is the fear that after unlocking one ending, you’ll have to start a whole new playthrough just to see the rest of them. Graciously, Code Vein 2 streamlines this process.

Not only can you unlock every ending in a single playthrough, you’re expected to. It’s not even particularly complex, though the game definitely tries to dissuade you from it at times.

After completing the first ending, you can continue onto the second no matter what. The third ending requires a bit more effort and awareness. After reloading your completed save after the second ending, you are able to begin New Game Plus. Do not do this if you have yet to unlock the third and final ending.

Every Ending And How To Unlock It

A Hero’s End

A Hero’s End is the default ending to the game that you will always get first, regardless of your choices. This occurs in Luna Rapacis, after you defeat Hero Valentin at end.

Immediately after the fight and the ensuing cutscenes, the game will end. You will still have a chance to complete any missed content while pursuing the final ending, so don’t worry about any missed content.

Luna Fraterna

After completing the first ending, Zenon will appear on the screen to imply there is more still to this story. He will then helpfully (though a tad uncomfortably) replace Lou on the main menu, with a small icon of him pointing rapidly at the ‘Continue’ button.

As you might have guessed, you need to press the continue button here to proceed towards the second ending. Do not load any other saves as you may overwrite Zenon’s continue button. If this occurs, just defeat Hero Valentin again.

After you’ve loaded up, you’re given the chance to travel to the past again, this time to the beginning of the Upheaval. This has you scaling the Sealing Spire and fighting another unique boss at the end. After this, you will see the second ending of the game, Luna Fraterna.

Like before, you still have the means to reload this save and complete any content you haven’t done so beforehand, even after beating the boss. This means if you haven’t met the conditions for the final ending, you still have the means to do so.

Miraculous Bonds

The third and final ending of the game is Miraculous Bonds, and this is the only one not guaranteed to you. After completing the Luna Fraterna ending, you are brought back to the main menu, which has Lou once again.

If you meet the conditions for this ending, a new button will appear, ‘Rescue Lou’. This will launch a separate mini-campaign (around an hour) that automatically carries over your level and items from when you finished the Luna Fraterna ending.

In the ‘Rescue Lou’ campaign, you do not gain or lose Haze, nor can you level up. Make sure you’re satisfied with your build when you achieve the Luna Fraterna ending.

To unlock this ending, you need to have completed every Timeline Shift Decision quest across the whole game. These never time-out, so even up until the final boss of the Luna Fraterna ending, you can go back and complete these quests. They are as follows:

  • Timeline Shift Decision – Noah
  • Timeline Shift Decision – Josée
  • Timeline Shift Decision – Holly
  • Timeline Shift Decision – Lyle

With all of these completed and these heroes given a much happier ending, you will have unlocked the means to play through and complete the Rescue Lou campaign and Miraculous Bonds ending. If you didn’t have all of these quests completed when you first achieved the Luna Fraterna ending, just beat the boss again to unlock it.

The Rescue Lou campaign is separate from your other saves, and any items and Boosters gained are not transferable back to your main save. You may still return to your main game save to start a New Game Plus run whenever you like.
