Rule Of Rose Remake Announcement Possibly Teased By Bloober Team

Hot off the heels of 2024’s excellent Silent Hill 2 remake (and 2025’s pretty good Cronos: The New Dawn), Bloober Team has tilted its reputation from formerly middling to presently sterling. It seems like their journey into remakes won’t end with James Sunderland and the upcoming return to the original Silent Hill—at least, not if the suspicions of a veritable legion of fans prove accurate.

Bloober Team is teasing something big. The reveal date? February 14. Known throughout the world as my half-birthday Valentine’s Day, the day instantly brings to mind the gifting of flowers, especially roses. Does this lock in a remake of 2006’s controversial survival horror title, Rule of Rose? Nah. Does the existence of a poem on the website make it slightly likelier? Yeah! Sure! And do plenty of people think it’s definitely, absolutely, this? Yup!

Rule Of Rose (2026)?

Rule of Rose Jennifer

For the uninitiated, the original Rule of Rose courted heaps of controversy. Certain mid-2000s media outlets wrongly reported the alleged extent of its darker themes, and for what it’s worth, it is a pretty bleak affair. Players took on the role of Jennifer, a young Londoner in 1930 who gets herself trapped in a world led by young girls collectively called the “Red Crayon Aristocrats.” As a reminder, this is a horror game; there’s a lot to work with on this premise, and uhh… it’s pretty extreme.

The Original Kingdom Come: Deliverance Is Getting An Enhanced Version On PS5

Oh.

Fast-forward 20 years, and here’s the website that’s spawned some memories among those who have played the game in the decades since release. (And I can’t imagine a ton of them are out there; while there’s obviously a means through which to bypass this issue, the PlayStation 2 game costs a small fortune on reseller sites. Plus, y’know, it was never the biggest hit to begin with.)

Let’s take a look at that website’s title: remosdneulserorehsoovamceyerd.com. You can throw the letters around and find both “Rule” and “Rose,” though notably, I don’t see an F for “of.” But hey, it’s something. What’s more, my colleague James Lucas notes there’s a poem by the late William Blake hidden on the page:

“O Rose, thou art sick! The invisible worm, That flies in the night, In the howling storm, Has found out thy bed O crimson joy; And his dark secret love Does thy life destroy.”

Could Bloober Team be making another game that has something to do with roses? Oh, aye. Is it possible the entire thing is more thematic than literal, and the game that’s announced on February 14 is called, like, “Flowers Rule: Will You Be My Valentine?” Uh, I guess? Is there precedent for Bloober to take on a classic, and are they big on survival horror in general? You betcha. Am I filling out this article with too many hypothetical questions? You be the judge.

In any case, we’ll not have long to wait. As of this writing, 17 days remain until the studio unveils this next big thing.
