Sparking Zero’s Next DLC Could Be Adding Dragon Adventure Mode

Sparking Zero’s Next DLC Could Be Adding Dragon Adventure Mode

For fans of the Dragon Ball franchise, last night was nothing short of a dream come true. To recap, Dragon Ball Super is coming back with an adaptation of the Moro arc, but before that, it’ll get a re-adaptation of the Battle of the Gods arc, now renamed the Beerus arc.

Then, a new Dragon Ball game was announced, Age1000, a title that was developed in close partnership with the late Akira Toriyama. If all that wasn’t enough, Sparking! Zero is getting one more massive DLC release, featuring pretty much every character that had been missing, including Super Saiyan Bardock and Super 17.

That last announcement has fans dissecting every second of the near-two-minute-long trailer, and they’ve come to the conclusion that the “New Mode” being teased at the 1:27 mark isn’t exactly new, at least not to seasoned Budokai Tenkaichi fans.

Specifically, multiple fans believe that what was shown is a new take on the popular Dragon Adventure mode that was present in Budokai Tenkaichi 2. There’s no denying that the evidence is strong, especially the fact that the map looks eerily similar to what was in BT2.

In that same trailer, you can see Goku overlayed with a map with multiple points of interest, including Saiyan Saga Vegeta, Cell, Master Roshi and a few “?” areas.

For those not in the know, Dragon Adventure was the story mode of BT2, letting players control members of the Z team through the events of Z through GT, as well as the movies. Along the way, you could collect the Dragon Balls and other items while flying around the world.

It was a step up from what Budokai 3 offered in its own story mode, and if this comes to fruition, then Sparking! Zero will further iterate on BT2’s take.

Compare that map in the trailer with what Dragon Adventure had back in the PS2 generation, and everything suddenly makes a ton of sense.

Sorry, Vegeta fans, you’re outnumbered.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long before finding out for sure. The DLC is slated for a release around summer, and Dragon Ball has a games-specific event slated for April 18–19 in Los Angeles, where more information is almost guaranteed to be shown.

For being just short of two minutes long, the trailer was packed with a ton of information. As mentioned up top, many of the fan-requested characters that were present in past Budokai Tenkaichi games are coming forward. There will be new stages and costumes, including Teen Gohan in an orange gi.

If that wasn’t enough, a free update that’s coming to Sparking! Zero will bring forward Budokai Tenkaichi 3’s iconic and tough-as-nails Mission 100 to the spiritual successor.

Oh, and there’s also a new signature theme song for Sparking! Zero, and it’s amazing. Dragon Ball fans are truly a spoiled bunch right now.
