If you’ve logged onto Fortnite at any point in the last 48 hours or so, there’s a good chance you’ve seen a bulked-up version of Ed from Ed, Edd n Eddy running around. That, or Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute from The Office, as those are the latest collabs in the never-ending live-service battle royale.
Yet, for as cool as it is to see Dwight and his mustard yellow shirt team up with Goku and Butters, it’s actually Ed that’s making the most waves, particularly when it comes to memes.
For instance, here’s Ed hitting the 6-7 emote:
For what it’s worth, 6–7 is the exact kind of thing that Eddy would be hitting if the show were still around.
Things don’t stop there, either, as the “Bet Your Sweet Bippy” meme is perhaps the one everyone is having the most fun recreating.
Then, there’s one social media user who went the distance, taking gameplay of Ed in Fortnite and combining it with the often weird and out of this world sound effects from the TV show.
Somehow, they don’t feel out of place in Fortnite.
If that wasn’t enough hilarity, it dawned on someone that the forces of peak Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network animation could now be combined together. Specifically, pairing Ed with the SpongeBob SquarePants sidekick, a duo that kids in the early 2000s would’ve never imagined could be possible.
If there was a downside, then it’s the fact that Ed is the only representative from his show in the game. Yet, fans have found some hope that this won’t be the end for the Ed, Edd n Eddy collab.
It’s Not An Ed, Edd n Eddy Collab Without Eddy Himself
As first shared on Twitter, the Ed outfit is considered “part of the Ed, Edd n Eddy set” in-game. That’s given hardcore fans some hope of seeing Eddy or Double D at some point in the future.
Ed as the first character makes a ton of sense, since he is the most memeable of the trio. But if neither Edd nor Eddy were planned, then it felt like they should’ve been part of the initial bundle. Instead, Ed is a solo roster member with Plank backbling and a Jawbreaker pickaxe.
Ultimately, only time will tell if the other Eds make their way into the game. If not, perhaps as sidekicks? Either way, long live the memes.
