Four days ago, we recognized the same thing that many of you had — namely, that Highguard was just one week away, and there’d been virtually no advertisement for the game since its show-ending TGA reveal. Like, truly. As my colleague Rhiannon notes in that linked article, Highguard’s own Twitter account had been silent for over a month.
Flash-forward three more days, and hey! Look! A leaked trophy list. It’s not much, but it’s a pulse. You kind of want to be able to discern a pulse when a video game is this close to launch. And now, all of a sudden, that heartbeat might be coming in strong.
Launch Sequence Activated
Less than half a week remains until the live-service shooter from devs behind Titanfall and Apex Legends graces our world, and Wildlight Entertainment is finally fixing to shine a spotlight.
“Tune in on Monday, January 26, at 10am PT for the Highguard Launch Showcase⚔️
Here, we’ll share an in-depth look at Highguard direct from the studio, featuring a full gameplay deep dive, year one plans, and much more.”
That’s quite a lot, actually. It’s what one would generally hope to see from any live-service title in its lead-up to launch and immediate aftermath, and we appear to be getting it all in one big swing. And it’s happening on the very day that players around the world can actually give Highguard a whirl firsthand.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 Fans Are Going Into Meltdown After A Drastically Altered Ending Has Seemingly Leaked
Yakuza Kiwami 3’s supposedly leaked ending is causing a bit of a stir.
An interesting tactic, to say the least. Folks will, should they so desire, install and boot up Highguard pretty much simultaneously tuning in. Get a feel for the controls, see what’s there from inception, and watch as the studio heads explain the fundamentals. All while being assured that there’s much more to come, presumably including anything that might stand out as a potentially glaring omission for a day-one title. (There’s always something.)
Will it work? Who knows. Highguard’s been lambasted since its reveal, but largely because people come to expect “big” news from The Game Awards’ close-out trailers, and in the minds of the many, this wasn’t that. In the final telling, none of it will matter, however; if Highguard is good, it might just catch on big-time, making all manner of bank. Or maybe it won’t. Either way, it’s good to see Wildlight Entertainment didn’t mysteriously forget to advertise it. They’re throwing all their hand grenades in this basket.
