Lifeng is a six-star operator at Arknights: Endfield who specializes in dealing physical damage, inflicting physical damage susceptibility, and crowd control like knock down. He is available during launch as part of the Basic Headhunting banner, which guarantees a six-star operator after 80 pulls.
This guide covers the best weapons and essences for Lifeng, as well as how to farm them. We’ll also go over the best gear sets and team set-ups, including how to make the most out of the combo potential with other operators. This will walk you through everything from early game progression to building the ultimate endgame Lifeng.
Best Lifeng Weapons And Essence
Lifeng uses polearm weapons, of which there are a few great choices ranging from four-star to six-star rarity. Our top choice is the Mountain Bearer, a six-star weapon that is ideal for complementing Lifeng’s physical damage and physical status infliction, but it’s an expensive one to pull from the Arsenal Exchange.
Due to Lifeng’s Agility/Strength balance, there are plenty of other options that are just as good and might be slightly easier to get your hands on.

Description |
|---|---|---|---|
|
Mountain Bearer |
6 Star |
Agility, Physical DMG, Efficacy |
Mountain Bearer can be considered Lifeng’s signature weapon. It leans heavily into both Vulnerability and Physical Susceptibility, that Lifeng excels in. The Efficacy: Weight Of The Mountain perk provides an extra 20% damage to Vulnerable enemies, an attribute boost when Lifeng applies Vulnerability and Physical Susceptibility. |
|
Valiant |
6 Star |
Agility, Physical DMG |
Provides flat Agility and Physical DMG boosts while also applying a flat 10% attack boost via its Combative: Virtuous Gain perk. After the wielder applies a Physical Status (like Vulnerability) you get an extra attack that deals equal to 120% of the wielder’s flat damage. |
|
Chimeric Justice |
5 Star |
Strength, Ultimate Gain Effiency |
The Chimeric Justice is a solid mid-tier pick for Lifeng, as it boosts Strength (his secondary stat), as well as provides some extra bonuses to how quickly your Ultimate recharges. The Brutality: Cemented Fury perk provides a bonus 3% critical rate as well as a buff when applying Vulnerability to an enemy with no previous stacks, boosting attack by 15% for 15s. |
|
Pathfinder’s Beacon |
4 Star |
Agility, Attack Boost |
This beginner four-star weapon provides a flat boost to Lifeng’s main stat – Agility – while also boosting the flat attack rate by 3%. The Inspiring: Start Of A Saga perk provides a bonus 15% attack if Lifeng’s health is above 80%. |
How To Farm Essences For Lifeng’s Weapons
As you level your account in Endfield, you’ll get access to a daily task called Severe Energy Alluvium. This is where you farm for weapon essences.
All you need to do is match the daily task to the recommended weapons in the Operation Manual, and then farm for essences.
If we’re looking at the Mountain Bearer, Lifeng’s recommended six-star weapon, you will want to farm for essences that include: Agility, Physical DMG boost, and the Efficacy tag. That will send you to the Origin Lodespring Energy Alluvium.
Farming for essences does not guarantee that you will get any with the desired stat lines. To do this, you will need to invest in some Valley Engraving Permits, which allow you to farm for specific essence traits. These can be purchased from the Stock Distribution Service.
Arknights: Endfield – List Of All Characters And Their Voice Actors
Here’s an updated list of all the voice actors in upcoming gacha game Arknights: Endfield.
Best Lifeng Gear Sets
Lifeng has some fascinating potential gear sets that complement his kit. We’ve opted for Aethertech as our number one gear set just because it fits so well with his skillset, providing boosts when Lifeng inflicts Vulnerability – which he ends up doing quite a lot, particularly if he’s your controlled operator.
Lifeng is an interesting operator because his character perk, Illumination, provides an extra 0.10 percent attack per point in Intellect and Will. This opens a few more potential gear sets than other operators in the game.
To maximize your character’s potential in Endfield, it’s all about hitting that three-set bonus on gold-tier gear. This is a substantial grind, however, so we’ve included some options here that are a bit easier to work with.
|
Pack Name |
Best Pieces For Lifeng |
Set Bonus |
|---|---|---|
|
Aethertech |
Plating, Gloves, Analysis Band, Stabilizer |
The Aethertech gear pack is built for Lifeng. It provides Agility and Strength and has bonuses for inflicting Vulnerability, which Lifeng’s entire kit is built around. Whenever Lifeng applies Vulnerability, he’ll receive an extra 8% physical damage for 15s. If you’ve stacked four stacks of Vulnerability on an enemy, this bonus doubles. |
|
Aburrey’s Legacy |
Heavy Armor, Gauntlets, Auditory Chip T1 |
We’ve opted for a basic, straightforward gear set in Aburrey’s Legacy. This set provides flat Agility and Strength (Lifeng’s main attributes), while also providing a basic but useful 24% boost to skill damage. The set bonus is also quite simple: whenever you cast a battle skill, combo skill, or an ultimate, you just get a flat damage boost for 15s. |
|
Roving MSGR |
Jacket, Fists, Gyro |
This set provides a bonus of +50 Agility, Lifeng’s main attribute. You also get 20% extra damage when Lifeng is over 80% health. This is a cheap, early-game set that marks the transition from Ferrium to Cryston gear. You can upgrade the different segments as you collect more Cryston, before eventually moving into the Aburrey’s Legacy set. |
In Endfield, you only need three set-pieces to get the set bonus on the gear. This means you can mix and match for the fourth piece based on the stats or functionality that best suits your operator. However, because Lifeng is using Aethertech in this build, it actually comes with all four set pieces within the same set.
If you do want to mix and match and replace either the Analysis Band or Stabilizer, you could go for the Redeemer Tag 1 from the Non-Set gear pieces to increase combo skill damage by 40 percent, or the Type 50 Yinglung Knife, which is basically just a better Redeemer Tag, though more expensive. It boosts both Agility and Will rather than the Redeemer, which just boosts Agility.

Your team in Arknights: Endfield is made up of four operators, and the main focus of theorycrafting a team is to see how the different operators interact with each other in the form of combo moves.
For both of these team set-ups, we use Lifeng as the player-controlled operator, as he is able to establish his own combo move by using his battle skill on an enemy with no prior Vulnerability stacks, then using a Final Strike to enable the combo.
Because of this, Lifeng is quite versatile in where you can place him in team set-ups. While physical damage operators are slightly underrepresented in the game, there are enough of them that you can get some nice combos going.
Best Lifeng Team Overview
In the best Lifeng team, we’ve opted for a team build that slants toward physical damage while featuring Ardelia as the main support operator.
Ardelia is just excellent. The best support in the game, currently, and she’s available for free.
Lead with Lifeng, pop his combo skill using the combination we mentioned above, then combo with the Endministrator to apply Crush to the enemy, which then sets Pogranichnik up to apply his combo skill.
Ardelia works particularly well with Lifeng, as her combo skill begins when an operator applies Vulnerability to an enemy with no prior stacks, which is essentially what kickstarts Lifeng’s entire skill rotation.
Both Pogranichnik and the Endministrator also apply Vulnerability stacks, however, which means you aren’t always waiting for Lifeng’s battle skill to come back online.
Alternate Team With Laevatain
Laevatain is the best operator in the game at launch. There’s no question of that. This alternate team is built around that idea and allows you to use Lifeng alongside her in a way that makes sense.
We still lead with Lifeng in this setup, although you could as easily lead with Laevatain as your controlled operator. Much like in the best team build, Ardelia is the perfect companion to Lifeng, and this is only boosted by Antal providing Focus.
The rotation might look like:
- Focus skill from Antal.
- Lifeng rotation of battle skill and then combo.
- Combo from Ardelia, which sets up Laevatain’s combo.
Rotate through Ultimate abilities when they’re ready. This easily repeatable skill rotation is functional and effective.
Honestly, both of these teams are very good. It really comes down to the luck you get with pulls (there’s no guarantee you’ll get Laevatain), and the sort of team you want to put together.
Endfield is fairly restricted due to the damage types and the way operators combo with each other, but you can still experiment with Lifeng because he enables his own combo — he doesn’t have to rely on any other operators.
Lifeng Ability Overview And Upgrade Priority
I’ve already covered Lifeng’s abilities a bit in the guide above, but I’ll quickly break down exactly how Lifeng’s rotation and skillset actually works.
-
Start with Lifeng’s battle skill, Turbid Avatar, which applies Knock Down to the enemy.
- Any physical ability, like Knock Down, applies Vulnerability.
- If the enemy has no Vulnerability stacks, Lifeng will apply Physical Susceptibility.
- Once you’ve applied either Vulnerability or Physical Susceptibility status effects using Lifeng’s battle skill, string together four basic attacks to enable a Final Strike.
-
This Final Strike then triggers Lifeng’s combo move, which deals damage and applies a Link.
- Links provide an extra damage buff to the next battle skill or ultimate cast by anyone on the team.
- Lifeng’s ultimate consumes the Link to deal more damage.
Because of this simple combo, you want to prioritise upgrading Lifeng’s battle skill, then ultimate, and then combo ability.
