Grounded 2‘s latest update brings a dangerous new creature to Brookhollow Park, plus new craftable items, like Serpent Armor. This powerful armor is only available to those brave enough to find and interact with the biggest animal in Grounded 2 to date: the Garter Snake.
This long, orange beast slithers through part of the park and is covered in the highly coveted scales. If you are strong enough to take on this creature, here is everything you need to know about how to find the snake and get its scales, and how to craft your own Sepent Armor.
All information present is accurate as of the January 2026 PTB. If anything changes, we will keep you updated.
How To Find The Garter Snake And Scales
The Garter Snake can only be found in one part of the park map right now, but it may venture further into Brookhollow later. For now, though, the Garter Snake slithers through long divots around Croquet Court, specifically to the south of the croquet set.
The Garter Snake is an aggressive animal, so stay away from its head as it can take you down with one strike. The Snake Scales, as you can imagine, are located on its body, so you will want to jump aboard as it travels past.
As soon as you are on the snake, it will speed up and occasionally try to throw you off by moving its body quickly upwards. The entire time, you will have to dodge any obstacles and try to hang on as you search for the Snake Scales.
Snake Scales can be found sticking up out of the Garter Snake as you walk along its back, and require a tier three hammer tool to harvest them. Once you have a bunch of Snake Scales, you can unlock new recipes to use them in crafting.
Look out for a random Trinket recipe drop from the Garter Snake: the Bale Scale, which gives you Candy Overlord effect. WIth this Trinket, your staff attacks will increase damage according to their candy elements, stacking damage up to five times until you either change your weapon or exit the combat.
