By now, most of you are probably aware of the ongoing phenomenon that has seen Cory in the House, a Disney Channel licensed game for the Nintendo DS, threaten to unseat Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 at the top of Metacritic’s best games by user score.
If you’re not aware, consider yourself extremely fortunate.
To make a long story short, the game, which is based on the show of the same name, has long been a meme in Internet circles, leading to inflated ratings on IMDb and weird anime jokes. However, things have reached a tipping point as the game is now among the best-reviewed titles on Metacritic, all of it without any serious merit.

Now, those interested in seeing the poorly-reviewed game for themselves — it got a 35 percent rating via GameRankings — or attempting to secure a delisted piece of potential gaming history have taken to eBay to purchase a copy of the game. So much so that bids on some copies have reached the several-hundred-dollar threshold with days to go.

Right now, on eBay there’s currently 24 listings for Cory in the House, of which the cheapest option is $75 on a Buy it Now listing. After that, things begin to skyrocket into uncharted territory, including a CIB listing for $1,420.
However, where things get interesting is on the bidding side. One listing has reached $1,000 in bids, with six days left. Another, with the same amount of six days, is at $721. It’s unclear why one has reached more popularity than the other when they’re both offering the same thing.
Meanwhile, there’s one person attempting to offload two graded copies of Cory in the House for the cool price of $100,000. Oh, you’ll need to cough up an extra $8 in shipping, too.
Of course, there’s no telling if any of these individuals will make good on the $721 or $1,000 bids when the time comes.
The funny part about all this is that Cory in the House began charting on Metacritic over the weekend, and copies were still extremely cheap up until about 36 hours ago, when things went viral.
As recently as Wednesday, a loose copy sold for as low as $9.36 and a CIB bundle for $28.99 plus tax and shipping. Where fans really wish they were at is 2019, when Walmart still had sealed copies.
All this to say, if you have a copy lying around somewhere, you might be able to partially fund a holiday this year.
