Resident Evil Insider Explains Requiem’s Missing Collector’s Edition

Resident Evil Insider Explains Requiem’s Missing Collector’s Edition

A reliable Resident Evil insider has given a decent explanation as to why Requiem hasn’t received a proper collector’s edition like other recent Resi games.

Going into last night’s Resident Evil Requiem showcase, I don’t think many of us had high expectations beyond getting to see a little bit more of Leon Kennedy’s gameplay. The only other thing that I saw a lot of people wishing for was the long-awaited announcement of some kind of collector’s edition for Requiem.

Every other big Resident Evil game since the Resident Evil 2 remake has had a solid collector’s edition that comes with a big statue of whoever the lead character is. With all the rumours of Leon’s inclusion, many figured that Capcom was saving the announcement of the big tat release for after he was confirmed, which didn’t really end up being the case.

We Can Blame The Lack Of Resident Evil Requiem Collector’s Editions On Tariffs

Yet Another Way The World Is Getting Worse For Collectors

Instead of revealing a fancy collector’s edition to go along with the Deluxe version of the game we’ve known about for some time, Capcom instead showed off two 1/6 scale figures of Leon and Grace, which look exactly like the ones we’ve seen in the past (albeit with the ability to stand together). This, and the lack of a collector’s edition, confirmed once and for all that we weren’t getting anything of the sort.

Resident Evil Requiem Finally Understands That Action And Horror Can Co-Exist

Requiem is preparing to combine shooter action with survival horror like never before.

If, like me, you’re wondering what the heck is going on for Capcom not to have a collector’s edition for its biggest game in years, a reliable Resident Evil insider might have the obvious answer for you. Over on Twitter, AestheticGamer1 was asked about the missing collector’s edition by a fan, who was seemingly disappointed by the Resident Evil Showcase’s lack of an announcement.

In response, AestheticGamer1 said that, “as much as some people don’t want to hear it”, the likely reason for Resident Evil Requiem not getting a collector’s edition is because of Trump’s “wishy washy tariffs”. The much-reported tariffs, which have raised prices for a lot of things in the last year, have apparently “actively led” to Capcom not bothering with a full collector’s edition.

While that hasn’t been confirmed by Capcom itself, it does track considering how expensive collector’s editions have gotten lately, and how few of them we’ve seen for big games. At the very least, we’re still getting the statues that were clearly meant for a collector’s edition, but it’s a sad sign for anyone like me who likes celebrating a game with pointless merch.
