It can be a risky life as a modder, constantly dodging potential terms of service loopholes and other legal problems to alter the games they play, but one site that you wouldn’t really expect people to have an issue with is Nexus Mods, quite possibly the biggest modding site on the planet. It’s safe, moderated, and you’ll rarely find anything particularly dodgy out there.
Despite all of this, Discord seems to have a pretty big problem with the site right now. First reported by a Reddit user called Mr_Sheyd and shared with the PCGaming subreddit, it seems as though sharing official links to Nexus Mods could hit you with a whopping two-year Discord ban for what the platform describes as “copyright infringement.”
Discord Is Seemingly Banning Users For Sharing Nexus Mods Links
At the moment, Mr_Sheyd reckons this is a problem with Discord’s automated safety filters, and seems to be related to mods regarding Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel Rivals specifically. It’s also being reported that the current appeal process for this kind of strike is wonky too, as appeals are getting shot down by automated processes once again.

According to Mr_Sheyd, Nexus Mods itself is aware of the problem, and it reckons that the reason why accounts are being banned is due to mass-flagging requests from Sony. That would make sense, since mods surrounding Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel Rivals in particular are the cause, both of which obviously feature Spider-Man.
Right now, it doesn’t appear as though there are many fixes for the problem either, so if you’re a modder that regularly shares Nexus Mods links on Discord, even the purely legal and innocent ones, you may want to cut it out until the problem is resolved. Otherwise, you could find yourself slapped with a two-year ban that you can’t appeal.
