In Hytale, there are all sorts of resources to find and pick up, from sticks to iron to carrots. They all take up spots in your inventory. What also goes in your inventory are your weapons, tools, torches, and much more. So, there is a lot that you may need to carry around.
Yes, you can make a box to throw some stuff in, but they aren’t that big. Therefore, you end up with an inventory filled to the brim. Thankfully, the game gives you a way to boost your inventory space through backpacks. Here is everything you need to know about crafting and using backpacks.
How To Craft And Upgrade Your Backpack
Like most things you can craft in Hytale, you will need a workbench to make a backpack.
However, this isn’t a basic item you’re crafting. You will need to upgrade your workbench to Tier Two before you can even think about boosting your inventory space.
You can do this from the workbench menu as long as you have the following resources:
- 30 Copper Ingots – Find and mine copper ore from caves, then put it in a furnace to make ingots.
- 20 Iron Ingots – Find and mine iron ore from caves, then put it in a furnace to make ingots.
- 20 Linen Scraps – You can pick them up by killing enemies like Trocks, Skeletons, and Goblins, so basically anyone wearing clothes.
Once the workbench is Tier Two, you can craft the backpack from the Tinkering tab. Doing so requires the following resources:
- 8 Iron Ingots – Find and mine iron ore from caves, then put it in a furnace to make ingots.
- 16 Medium Leather – Gather medium hides from medium-sized animals, such as wolves. Then put those hides in the Tanning Rack to turn them into leather.
You can then upgrade the backpack further by upgrading the workbench to Tier Three to acquire Backpack Upgrade 1 with the help of 40 cindercloth scraps, 24 heavy leather, and eight cobalt ingots.
Then, you can get Backpack Upgrade 2 by saving 100 memories at the Forgotten Temple (it will take you some time to be able to do this).
Both upgrades increase the number of slots you have in your backpack.
How To Equip Your Backpack
You may assume that your inventory will just increase by crafting the backpack, but that is not the case. There are a few more steps you need to take to increase your inventory space.
First of all, you need to put the backpack in your hotbar to equip it. It will just look like a piece of paper in your hand. Then, you need to ‘consume’ it by right-clicking, as you do with food. This properly equips the backpack, even if you may not realize it since your inventory won’t be any bigger yet.
What you need to do now is open up your inventory and look over to the left side where your character is. Next to them is a picture of a backpack. Click it to open a new row of inventory space where you can place things.
