Geometry Dash Hits New Player Peak 12 Years After Release

Out of nowhere and 12 years after its release, Geometry Dash has smashed its previous all-time player peak on Steam and set a new record of over 100,000 concurrent players.

We all know what Geometry Dash is. The iconic and often painfully difficult rhythm platformer has been a staple since it first launched on mobile all the way back in 2013, before being ported over to Steam at the end of 2014. Although Geometry Dash hasn’t changed all that much in the years since it released, it’s still kept a massive audience.

If, like me, you figured that the Geometry Dash community wasn’t particularly active, you might be surprised to learn that the game has a dedicated fanbase that is still playing the game more than a decade later. In fact, that fanbase is bigger than ever, as proven by its new all-time concurrent player count.

Geometry Dash Is Bigger Than Ever, More Than A Decade Later

The Steam CCU Has Finally Crossed Over Into Six-Digit Numbers

As pointed out by Geometry Dash developer RobTop Games over on Twitter and tracked by SteamDB, Geometry Dash recently shattered its previous all-time concurrent player count of 88,346 players (which was achieved back in 2023) by reaching a new CCU high of 103,840. That’s right, after 12 years on the market, Geometry Dash has finally crossed over into six-digit concurrent player numbers.

Geometry Dash: 8 Best Platformer Levels

Want to play some interesting platformer levels in Geometry Dash? Here are some of them.

RobTop Games shared the new player count and simply said, “New all-time player peak” with a fire emoji. Since then, the count has stabilised a bit and dropped back down to just over 95,000 players, which is nothing to sniff at. Even with that minor drop, Geometry Dash still has a new record under its belt to be proud of.

So, why did Geometry Dash randomly hit more than 100,000 players at once on a random Saturday in January, I hear you ask? I actually have no clue what’s brought in so many additional players at once, as the game doesn’t seem to have had a notable update since version 2.2 in late 2023, aside from some event levels like a Stick War-inspired one at the end of November.

Unless there’s something I’m missing as someone who hasn’t dived into Geometry Dash in a long time, it seems like the only reasonable explanation for the new record is that it’s just maintained a dedicated community and kept the game alive with events and plenty to get through. A well-earned new peak.

It certainly doesn’t hurt that Geometry Dash is less than $5 and has even been under $1 during Steam sales.

Some games just aren’t for me and I need to be okay with that.
