PlayStation’s first big announcement of 2026 is that it has three new DualSense designs and console cover color options in the offing. Dubbed the Hyperpop collection, the range’s design features a vinyl black that dissolves into different colors, depending on which design you choose. The only downside is that there’s nothing for PS5 Pro owners.
The Hyperpop collection’s three color options are Techno Red, Remix Green, and Rhythm bBue. Creators behind the designs have revealed the collection is inspired by RGB lighting, which might mean we see this black dissolving into brighter colors pattern used with different colors in the future.
I imagine that’ll depend on how well these first three color options sell.
Introducing The PS5’s Hyperpop Collection
As is the case with the standard white slim PS5 cover, the top section of the new Hyperpop covers is black, with the bottom half seemingly matte like a regular launch PS5. Worth noting that these covers will not be compatible with standard launch PS5s. Only the slimmer models of the console that were released in 2023.
There have been some complaints that owners of the original PS5 have been left behind by PlayStation’s new range of accessories, but the biggest issue is that the Hyperpop range, and pretty much everything else released by PlayStation, hasn’t accounted for those who have forked out for a PS5 Pro.

There goes $1,300 down the drain.
Nothing For PS5 Pro Owners, Again
There are no PS5 Pro covers in this new range, even though the more powerful version of PlayStation’s current-gen console is the latest model and has been on the market for well over a year. The only alternate cover release for the PS5 Pro so far has been the Ghost of Yotei one from last year. However, if you don’t like Yotei, then you probably don’t want it. If you do? Tough luck there, too, as they sold out almost immediately and haven’t been restocked.
The wait for more PS5 Pro covers continues, but on the bright side, the matching DualSense controllers are compatible with all PS5s, whether you have an original model from launch day or a Pro from last year. Unlike previous PS5 accessory collections, there won’t be a staggered rollout, and all three options will be released on the same day – March 12, 2026. Pre-orders will open next week on January 16.
The Hyperpop DualSense controllers will cost $84.99, which, while expensive, is pretty standard for new PS5 controller designs. The covers, on the other hand, appear to be quietly undergoing a price hike. All three covers in the new collection will cost $74.99 each, which is as much as $20 more than PlayStation has typically charged for its PS5 covers.
