Wolfenstein 3 Is In Active Development, Sources Claim

Back in September, we reported on MachineGames’ effective confirmation that a third mainline Wolfenstein under their command was coming… eventually. One month later, the internet took notice when it seemed like the devs were teasing “Wolfenstein 3,” as we’ll call it for lack of an official title, as their next big thing.

Today, things got spicy. Multiple sources have claimed that Wolfenstein 3 is, indeed, in active development at MachineGames. Fans of their prior efforts in this celebrated Nazi-shootin’ franchise – and there are many of us! – should rejoice. We’re going back.

The original claim for today’s big thing stems from Jez Corden over at WindowsCentral, who also spoke to the existence of a Fallout: New Vegas remaster. That’s nice, but it’s just one source; the Wolfenstein bit, however, has been compounded by an article from Kotaku which reports to have its own insider nodding their head on the matter.

Wolfenstein’s already looking hot right now, with a TV show en route over at Amazon Prime Video. According to Corden, MachineGames is also hard at work on some kind of “Rainbow Six Siege-like multiplayer title,” but that’s not stopping them from aligning the series’ foray into streaming with a bold third chapter.

Details are scarce, of course, and the odds of Bethesda coming out and confirming the existence of Wolfenstein 3 yet are next to nonexistent. Will we hear about it this year, though? 2026 is in its first week, so yeah, there’s a lot of time yet for that to transpire. Either way, it’s good to know it’s coming, and we’ll be keeping up with any further twists on this remarkably-obvious in-the-works shooter in the months to come.
