The Forsaken Hollows bring a bunch of new bosses to Elden Ring: Nightreign, and some of them are old faces that you already fought against in the original game or in a previous Soul title. For example, the Lord of Blood is no other than the mighty Mohg. An optional boss that you had to defeat to enter Shadow of the Erdtree.
But what about this second appearance? Is he the same as the original blood master? Does he have a new arrange of bloody (and annoying) spells? Let’s learn everything about the Lord of Blood boss and how to defeat him in The Forsaken Hollow.
How To Find The Lord Of Blood
The Lord of Blood is an end-of-day boss that you can only face in Day 2 in The Balancers’ expedition. You’ll know that the lord is coming when you face Curseblade and Divine Beast Warrior at the end of Day 1.
This is likely the hardest boss you can find in Day 2 in all the DLC. It’s recommended that you are at least level 11 and you have two or three flasks left at a minimum. Also, anything to help against Blood attacks will be welcome.

Elden Ring Nightreign’s final boss is a tough Expedition to overcome, but with a bit of patience and the right weapons, you’ll come out on top.
How To Defeat The Lord Of Blood
First Phase
During its first phase, the Lord of Blood won’t have many attacks, but it doesn’t mean that he isn’t deadly. If you faced him in the original Elden Ring, you’ll be mostly familiar with his moveset, as it repeats a lot of patterns. But if you haven’t, don’t worry, we will go through all the moves.
The Lord of Blood can attack using its big trident with a straightforward blow. This is usually accompanied by an attack with a claw of blood in the air, which you’ll see the marks — run away, since it explodes shortly after.
There are other attacks with blood that this boss can summon, which will build your Blood Loss meter if you are not careful enough. You’ll notice he can create circles above him with one hand. If the player he’s looking at is close, he will probably summon a rain of blood around him. However, be careful, because he can also throw blood far away.
Both these attacks leave fire on the ground for a moment. Try not to step on them.
He can also charge with the weapon in a short line forward, which you should avoid by dodging to the sides (not backwards!).
As you deal damage, you’ll notice that the boss will hold his weapon up, say a number, and perform a small ritual that summons a red ring near your character. This is unavoidable, and be ready, because when you receive three of them, the Lord of Blood will activate an attack that can’t be defended against — only the damage negation Physick can prevent one of the hits, but not all of them.
Also, the Lord will attack in front of him with his trident while summoning the rings, so avoid him or be at his back.
When you deplete around 50 percent of his life bar, the Lord of Blood will summon the third ring for your character. Immediately after, he will activate his ritual, and you’ll suffer three Blood Loss attacks in a row while he heals big chunks of health.
During these unavoidable attacks, heal continuously and be sure that you aren’t low health, or you will die in one hit. You can also attack him if you’re feeling lucky and can avoid getting interrupted with an Ultimate Art, but it’s better to focus on your health.
Second Phase
After his blood ritual, the Lord of Blood will enter a new phase, with new wings and attacks. He will repeat many of the moves you saw in phase one, but let’s focus on what you have to learn now.
Thankfully, the boss won’t repeat the unavoidable Blood Loss attack during this phase.
He can fly up to the sky, throw blood that leaves a burning trail, and finish the chain by flying toward a player and attacking on the way down. The blood won’t touch you if you’re far away (it has poor range), but wait for the melee attack to dodge it to the sides, because it auto-targets you.
He can also jump a little and attack in front of you — you only need to dodge to the side for this one.
The Lord has a regular combo with his trident, in which he attacks from right to left and then left to right in front of him. You can easily dodge this by rolling at the correct time and using your invulnerable frames. More easily, just dodge backwards a couple of times until you’re out of range.
Its melee moves will now also leave flames on the ground, so keep an eye on them and always lure the boss to an unaffected part of the arena.
The most annoying attack the boss gains in this phase is another spell with blood. You’ll see him charging for a second, and then summoning multiple tridents on the ground. After a few seconds, he will activate them and create clouds of blood, dealing AoE damage that you can’t avoid unless you’re out of range.
You can actually destroy a blood trident by shooting or attacking it with anything you have, but there are too many, and they have a good amount of health. You won’t be able to destroy all of them before the activation. What you should do is destroy the one or two closest to you and your party, and avoid the other areas (if possible) until the ritual is done.
This blood ritual, on the other hand, can be repeated!
The Lord of Blood is left vulnerable for many seconds after Critical Hits, so try to spam them as much as possible (heavy weapons help a lot!).
