Resident Evil Requiem’s Trailers Have Been Teasing Leon All Along

Resident Evil Requiem’s Trailers Have Been Teasing Leon All Along

Capcom may have spent the last few months pretending that Leon Kennedy isn’t in Resident Evil Requiem, but it turns out that it’s actually been teasing it since the very first trailer.

One of the biggest moments of this week’s The Game Awards showcase was when a new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem was shown and finally confirmed that Leon is the game’s second playable character. Of course, this wasn’t exactly surprising for most of us, as that’s been the biggest rumour surrounding the game since before it was even announced.

Capcom has been trying its absolute best to go against all of the leaks and claiming that Leon isn’t in the game for months now, which has been an admirable load of lies. As it turns out, though, Capcom wasn’t above actively teasing Leon’s involvement in the game itself, as all of the trailers have a very hard-to-spot reference.

Resident Evil Requiem’s Trailers Have Teasing Leon This Whole Time

There Are A Lot Of Steps, But It’s Definitely Purposeful

Over on Twitter, kathyanhy pointed out an easter egg that has been hiding in all of Resident Evil Requiem’s trailers, including the first and second ones that Leon wasn’t a part of at all. As we all know, the trailers end in a very stylish way, with typewriting popping up on the screen spelling out “Requiem”.

My One Hope For Requiem Is That It Scares Me Like Resident Evil 7

The trilogy is ending, but it should go back to its roots.

Those letters are the key to the easter egg, as BLEACH_FAN001 pointed out that if you pause the Requiem title at the right frame in the final seconds of the trailer, rotate the screen 180 degrees, and mirror the image horizontally, they actually spell out the word Leon. That’s right, as much as Capcom has tried to dodge his involvement, they’ve been teasing him all along, too.

There are a lot of steps to this easter egg, and it would have just seemed like some mad copium if you’d pointed it out before Leon was officially confirmed for the game, but now that he is, it’s hard to deny that it’s purposeful. As much as Capcom has pretended it wanted to hide Leon, he’s been with us the whole way.
