Hyperspace Lumiose is the kind of place that makes you double-check your map and wonder if Hoopa has been snacking a little too enthusiastically. This version of Lumiose City is one of the biggest draws of Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s Mega Dimension DLC, as it offers a pocket reality packed with Pokemon and just enough danger to keep things interesting.

What Is Hyperspace Lumiose?
Hyperspace Lumiose is a warped, alternate version of the Lumiose City. It is essentially a wild zone filled with Pokemon that can only be found inside these unique distortions, among Pokemon that can be find outside of them as well. On your map, Hyperspace distortions are clearly marked as black circles with a neon green diamond in the center, and new ones appear at sunrise and sunset each in-game day, while old ones close.
To make them easier to spot, open your map and press (-) to hide other icons, leaving just the distortions visible.
What Are The Different Kinds Of Hyperspace Lumiose Portals?
There are several different types of portals, each offering access to a main type of Pokemon, like Fighting, Poison, or Ghost. At any given time, six portals are active.

How To Enter Hyperspace Lumiose
Entering Hyperspace Lumiose requires giving Hoopa a donut after unlocking the DLC and completing the first related mission. Once Hoopa eats the donut, a portal opens, letting you step into the distorted version of Lumiose.
Time in Hyperspace is tied to the donut’s energy, which gradually depletes. Depending on the donut used, you may stay in Hyperspace from just a minute to several minutes. You’ll also exit automatically if you black out or are defeated in battle. For more control, you can leave at any time using the black, glowing spectral teleports embedded in the walls.
What Are Survey Tasks In Hyperspace?
Inside Hyperspace, you’ll encounter survey tasks unique to each pocket. Completing these tasks, up to three, advances your progress through the DLC’s Corbeau missions.
These include things like:
- Destroy floating Poke Balls
- Pick up sparkling items
- Use the catch window (short time to catch a Pokemon while they’re low HP)
- Catch Alpha Pokemon
- Catch wild Pokemon
Mostly, they include things like you can fighting and catching Pokemon, including DLC-exclusive species, and collecting loot scattered across the area, often indicated by shiny spots on the ground.
