Magic: The Gathering has revealed a bunch of new cards from its Marvel Super Heroes Universes Beyond set. Including the likes of Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, and other Avengers, this set will be released in June 2026 to line up with the release of Avengers: Doomsday. Speaking of which, there sure are a lot of Doctor Doom cards.
Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will play a big role in the future of the MCU, so it makes sense that the set will include various cards featuring the villain and some of his iconic moments. However, what we didn’t expect was a card referencing his hilarious Horn of Greed “toot” moment from the old comics, which has since become a meme.
Doctor Doom Features Heavily In MTG’s Latest Universes Beyond Set
It’s not just the heroes that shine in the new cards, but plenty of villains as well. Baron Zemo, Kang the Conqueror, Super-Skrull and even Galactus are featured in this preview, but none of them are a match for Doctor Doom, who got four cards all to himself. The cards not only include original art and comic covers, but even some famous comic panels.
The Horn of Greed card is arguably the most hilarious, featuring a golden-age Doom blowing on a horn with the “toot” sound effect, while saying ” Fool! Doctor Doom does as he pleases!” to a pleading Namor. Some of the other panel cards include the Fantastic Four facing Galactus and the Avengers fighting Loki, but none of them are as famous as the Doom toot.
Magic: The Gathering May Tempt Me To Return, Even Though I Don’t Like Universes Beyond
Everything in moderation.
It’s evident that MTG wants to feature Doom heavily due to him being the new big-bad of the MCU. The Fantastic Four also feature heavily, with each getting their own card as well as a couple featuring all four of them. There are also some relatively unknown characters like Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.
