The Mistveil Forest is an area in Kaifeng in Where Winds Meet that is enveloped by a mysterious fog. Standing in this fog for even a second will inflict you with a deadly toxin, which has no known cure.
Luckily, through the Ephemeral Blight Encounter quest, you’ll be able to find a cure for the toxin, reveal the forest, and eventually gain access to the Ghost Master World Boss. Below, we’ll walk you through every step of this quest.
How To Start The Ephemeral Blight
Head into Mistveil Forest, and the Encounter will pop up. Track the quest, then head to the marker to continue. Before you can make it there, however, you’ll be afflicted with Dawn-to-Dusk Venomous Mist and fall unconscious. You’ll wake up a few moments later, then you can begin the quest.

The Ephemeral Blight Walkthrough
Speak to Zhai Xu to learn about the situation, then try to search for more information. Before you can continue, you’ll need to distract Zhai Xu. Use Meridian Touch on the windchime outside the window, then gather the two clues when he leaves the house.
Speak to Zhai Xu again, then leave his abode. Open up your bag and read the Thousand-Wish Amendment, from which you’ll learn that you can cure the Dawn-to-Dusk Venomous Mist, but only if you gather the cures from the Hollow Abode and Aureate Pavilion factions within the forest.
Hollow Abode
The Hollow Abode’s base is found on the westernmost side of the forest. This is also a Skill Theft location for the Soulshade Umbrella, so you’ll become invisible when you approach.
Luckily, you don’t need to go far to get the note. Enter the window on the second floor of the main building, then head down the stairs to your right. The cure note is on the table immediately at the end of the stairs.
Aureate Pavilion
The Aureate Pavilion note is found at the northeast part of the map, to the east of the North Mistveil Forest Boundary Stone. This is also an outpost, so you can easily see the location already.
Kill the enemies in the outpost, then find the cure in the main house, on the table to the left of the entrance.
Return To Wishing Cove
Once you have all three cures (Hollow Abode, Aureate Pavilion, and Wishing Cove), return to Wishing Cove and submit the cures (along with the borrowed manuscript) to Zhai Xu. Then, wait two days.
Head inside Zhai Xu’s house, then read the letter he left for you. Now, follow him to the shack near the North Mistveil Forest Boundary Stone, then talk to him there.
He’ll give you the prototype cure to the toxin, allowing you to head deeper into the forest. As you explore, stand near fire to lessen the power of the toxin.
Follow the trail of braziers to a group of Aureate Pavilion guards, then defeat them.
As you fight, take care not to stray too far from the bonfire, or the mist will start killing you.
Sun Buqi’s Lair
After dealing with the guards, head a bit further, then use fire arrows to destroy Dawn-to-Dusk Blossoms, opening the path into the tunnel. Follow the tunnel to a clearing, then investigate the four spots in the area.
Next, use fire arrows to destroy the three Blossoms, causing Sleeping Puppets to drop from the tree. Defeat them, then investigate the Silver Needle Folding Fan.
Follow the mysterious figure, then enter the hidden lair. A short distance after you enter, you’ll be ambushed, so be ready to dodge. Continue forward, then destroy the two Blossoms, then fight a group of Sleeping Puppets.
After that, destroy three more Blossoms, then head into the clearing. Get Sun Buqi’s notes from the left table, then you’ll need to put everything together.

Return the pendant to the Sleeping Puppet, destroy the three Blossoms, then return to Zhai Xu. Submit the notes to him, and the quest will be complete. From now on, you’ll be able to explore the Mistveil Forest without being inflicted with the toxin.
