GTA Online Has Finally Brought Back Michael De Santa

After more than a decade since Grand Theft Auto 5 launched, GTA Online has finally given us what we’ve all been waiting for and brought back Michael de Santa.

Over the past 12 years, GTA Online has been constantly updated with new missions, modes, vehicles, guns, and so much more, but the most interesting updates have reintroduced characters from the main story mode. Trevor’s been appearing for quite some time, but Franklin finally returned as a much older and more stable man in 2021’s The Contract DLC.

Ever since fans got to catch up with Franklin and see how he’s been doing in the time since GTA 5 released, fans have been begging Rockstar to round out the trio by giving us an update focused on Michael de Santa. That wish has finally been granted with the upcoming The Safehouse in the Hills update.

GTA 5’s Best Character Is Finally Getting The GTA Online Treatment He Deserves

Mikey Boy Is Back

As pointed out by Polygon, Rockstar just shared the trailer for the Safehouse in the Hills update (which goes live on December 10), which revealed that it’s finally bringing back a much older Michael. In the trailer, Michael is shown to be looking a fair bit older than he did in GTA 5’s campaign, although he’s got the same chair-throwing temper as always.

This makes Ned Luke’s recent comments about being unsure whether he’d return to voice Michael a lot funnier, as he likely knew what was happening when he said it.

We don’t get to see too much of Michael’s involvement in the update, but it’s likely that he’ll have a similar role as Franklin and Lamar did in The Contract. Safehouse in the Hills will hopefully give us a good chance to see what he’s been up to in the 12 years since we last saw him, which is long overdue since he’s arguably the best character out of the three protagonists.
