Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a sequel almost two decades in the making. But now, after what feels like an eternity of waiting, Samus Aran’s latest adventure is finally here for the Nintendo Switch 2 and its older sibling.

Considering it is once again developed by Retro Studios, fans are hoping for an experience that is equal parts grand and ambitious. A game which not only has a meaty campaign, but plenty of side content to dig into alongside it. Here’s how long it takes to conquer.

How Long Does It Take To Beat The Campaign?

Samus crouches on a platform in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

Our review playthrough of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond on the Normal difficulty setting took us exactly 12 hours and 12 minutes to reach the end credits with 79 percent of scans collated and 73 percent of items discovered.

While there was a decent amount of side content left to discover, we still performed our due diligence and spent a good amount of time exploring the open plains of Viewros in search of weapon and ability upgrades. This is a good idea of how long it will take the average player to reach the end credits.

You will need to have completed the game on Normal to unlock Hard Mode, which by virtue of its greater challenge, will likely take longer to beat.

Mouse Mode Is Great, But You Have To Play Metroid Prime 4 With Motion Controls

Real ones know that Metroid Prime is a game made for motion controls.

How Long Does It Take To 100% The Game?

Samus hangs out with a robot friend in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

Searching Viewros high and low for all the Green Energy Crystals is a time-consuming affair, and finding all the different missile and shot inventory upgrades will take a good while as well, so prepare to spend an extra few hours doing so.

Upon earning the Thunder Shot ability, you can activate scouting droids located within each major area to automatically add all items you have yet to collect to your map. This makes the act of 100 percent completion much easier to achieve.

Your overall playtime and percentage completion can be checked at any time from the pause menu.

It’s important to keep in mind that upon starting a new game on Hard Mode on an existing save file, none of your upgrades or scans will carry over, so make sure you have done everything you need to do before facing the final boss.
