A couple of weeks back, it was revealed that the team at AdHoc Studios deprived us of some gripping Dispatch content. Writer Pierre Shorette told Inverse that, “We definitely cut some sex scenes. Which, in retrospect, we shouldn’t have.”
The writer hinted that the content wouldn’t be gone forever, saying, “Maybe folks will get to see those one day,” but the cat was out of the bag, and fans realized that a tender moment with Visi or Blonde Blazer had been torn from their grasp.
Little else was known about the cut scenes, apart from the fact that they were romantic in nature, at least until now. Dataminers have finally found evidence in the game’s files indicating when that scene would have taken place, along with hints about the nature of what would have happened.
Dispatch’s Romance Scene Would Have Likely Taken Place In Episode 6, Just As Things Were Falling Apart
Spoilers for Dispatch Episode 6 ahead.
During Episode 6 of Dispatch, the Z-Team throws Robert a party. The whole gang turns up, including the aforementioned Z-Team, Blonde Blazer, Roid, and Chase. It quickly descends into chaos, though, with the location of the Astral Pulse revealed, and a difference of opinions as to when to go and retrieve it. After all hell breaks loose, the party is shut down, and everybody leaves. It’s likely at this point that the game’s romance scene would have taken place.
Dispatch Could Be The Antidote To Superhero Fatigue, As Players Rush Back To Older Marvel And DC Games
At least 14 games have seen their player counts increase since the release of Dispatch.
As pointed out by german6ft4 on Reddit, there are three lines of code that were removed from the game, seemingly correlating to Episode 6:
- blonde_blazer_StaysOver
- Invisigal_StaysOver
- Robert_Tactician
The top two lines are pretty obvious. Provided it is related to Episode 6, during or after the fight, Robert would likely have asked his love interest to spend the night with him, one thing would have probably led to another, and we’d have got the romance scene we all desired.
The third option, however, has been left to some pretty interesting interpretations. Some commenters have suggested that it would have resulted in the trio having a good time together, while others have said it’s likely a “neither route.”
It’s highly likely that, of the three scenes, Invisigal spending the night would have been the most viewed. The Z-Teamer was comfortably more popular than Blonde Blazer, so much so that the writers admit they regret making it so easy for players to choose her, and fans have since created a whole subreddit dedicated to the rebellious superhero.
Whatever it is, it’s a reminder of what AdHoc took from us, and it’s time for us to start rallying for the release of the romance cut.
