How To Cure Sprains In Where Winds Meet

No one likes getting sick because it just drains you. Going to the doctor is a real anxiety-inducing even too, and expensive depending on where you live. But at least games are a nice form of escapism from all that, right?

Not if you plan on playing Where Winds Meet, anyway. Just like real life, you can get all manner of illnesses, ailments, and diseases when you’re out adventuring, and they can be just as debilitating as reality. Here’s how to handle those pesky pains.

How Do You Get Diseases And Ailments?

Honestly, anything can make you sick in the game. The most common one you’ll get will be sprains and bone fractures though. Despite the high-flying antics that occur in the game, you are still subject to gravity, and a fall from very large heights will still result in some damaged limbs.

This is pretty easy to avoid by simply using a Mighty Drop to hit the ground, completely negating any fall damage or the chance of damaging your legs.

Besides that, you can get a lot of other illnesses. Poisoning from interacting with Datura flowers, burns from taking too many fire attacks, bee stings from getting too close to Whisper Hives, and even mental illnesses from reading mysterious books.

Many of these illnesses will have a variety of impacts on you such as reducing your defenses, slowing Endurance recovery, or limiting your max health, among a variety of other effects. They’re best avoided.

You can check any illness you have in the Constitution menu, where you can see your attributes, as well as in the HUD to see exactly what they’re doing to you.

Many of these ailments can also advance in severity if left untreated, worsening the penalty of whatever they are already doing to you. This, in turn, increases the mastery required to heal it, as well as the cost of any healers you go to.

Can You Cure Illnesses Yourself?

Whenever we get sick in real life, the hope is often to avoid going to the doctor until it is absolutely required, relying on more traditional methods and over-the-counter medication to nurse us back to health. In a way, Where Winds Meet is just like that. Doctors can be quite expensive, so why waste the money when you can do it yourself?

Thankfully, you can, though it’s not an easy process, and not for everything. When looking at your ailments in the Constitution menu, it will tell you if a self-heal is possible, and if the more advanced stages can be healed, too.

In the case of a sprain, recovery is simple – stop falling. Provided you do not continually drop from tall heights, a sprain can recover on its own. If you keep falling, then it will likely advance to a higher state.

Other ailments, like bee stings, will simply heal over time, though some will require more advanced methods. Sometimes performing the Tai Chi Mystic Art will help cure certain illnesses, or taking a quick swim might wash away some mental fog. The game doesn’t tell you these methods, so although they are free, you might simply never figure them out.

Every Way Of Recovering

Beyond the methods of self-healing, there are only two other ways to recover from the various ailments you can get. This involves going to an in-game clinic, or getting healed by another player.

For the clinic, there is one that can be found in the Qinghe region near Blissful Retreat. This is the Evercare Clinic found top the hill, the very same place where you upgrade your Medicine Case. Talk to the doctor here, choose the ailment you want removed, and she will do so, though this can require a substantial amount of money, around 10k for even the smallest of sprains.

The other method is to request the help of another player. You can do this by examining your illness in the menu, which will allow you to choose from a list of other players to heal you. People can be busy sometimes though, so it might take a while to get your offer for help accepted.

There is, however, a standard amongst players of the game. If you are in need of healing, you go to the Evercare Clinic in Online Mode. Here, you should hopefully find lots of other Healer players hanging around who will approach you directly to offer their services and can heal you directly. This is the fastest method, though they will likely request some form of compensation for their services, though this is typically in the form of likes.

If you’re a Healer yourself, this is a great way to find patients. And if you’re a member of the Silver Needle sect, also a great way of getting your weekly likes to stay in the good graces of the sect.
