Fallout Season 2 Seemingly Has A Weapon-Related Plot Hole

Fallout Season 2 Seemingly Has A Weapon-Related Plot Hole

Even though 2025, as a year, is nearly up, there’s still quite a few video games (Marvel Cosmic Invasion and Metroid Prime 4) still to be released, as well as TV shows, including the next parts of the final season of Stranger Things, along with Season 2 of Fallout on Amazon Prime.

I wasn’t planning on leaving the house much in December already, but knowing there are two banger games and two massive TV shows all getting released just affirms that decision even more.

When it comes to the latter, December 17, which is the scheduled release date for the first episode of Season 2, that might as well be a lifetime away. Thankfully, there’s been plenty of teasers and interviews to keep fans entertained, including rumors that none of the endings of New Vegas will be adapted, though some might disagree with that idea.

Fallout’s Latest Trailer Has Me Incredibly Worried For Ghoulcy

Fans shipped Lucy and the Ghoul in the first season, but season two cannot make that canon.

Speaking of teasers, fans think they’ve found their first plot hole, and it’s taking everything out of hardcore Fallout fans to ignore what seems like a glaring oversight.

You Need Some Super Eagle-Eyes To Have Found This “Plot Hole”

As first spotted on Reddit, in the Season 2 trailer, Lucy is shown briefly firing a rifle. Pretty normal, right? Well, yes, but as Dry-Pie9610 pointed out, that rifle is a “Radium Rifle,” a weapon that did not make its debut in Fallout lore until Far Harbor, the DLC expansion of Fallout 4.

Why is that an issue? Far Harbor takes place in Maine, and Season 2 of the show is situated in New Vegas. There’s also some stuff with years and timelines, and it gets all messy the more and more you think about it.

“Where the Children of Atom got their hands on perfectly preserved Volkssturmgewehrs, I’d love to know,” one user wrote in response.

Listen, it’s not a game, or in this case, show-breaking hole by any means. There’s a good chance that the writers, producers and everyone involved simply elected to follow the “Rule of Cool” and slightly bent things around to make the sequence.

Also, as one user pointed out, “You would be surprised how things in the Fallout universe can easily be changed for the sake of entertainment if the writers want to, whether it makes sense canon-wise or not. Then again, it’s not really impossible to think the radium rifle didn’t appear (somehow, just like when Palpetine returned) on the West Coast in various ways.”

In this case, somehow, the Radium Rifle appeared. No mind, it looks awesome, and Season 2 likely will be better off because it has something like it in there. It’s just funny to think that someone had eyes skilled enough to find and point out this minor “plot hole.”
