When you’re as focused on the dangerous combat as you will be throughout the chapters of Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive, you’ll need to be sure you’re bringing along the best possible team of Hunters for the job. And with so many options in the console and PC release of the game, you’ll find no shortage of team comps!
But if you’re looking to use only the best Hunters in Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive, you’ll want to consider plenty of aspects of their combat style. You’ll have 20 characters to choose from, so here’s our tier list to help you pick.
How Do Tiers Work?
There’s a lot to keep track of if you’re trying to prepare team comps that showcase your strongest Hunters and give you the best odds of beating each chapter’s main mission in Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive, so you’ll want to take your full team comp into consideration when choosing which Hunters you’re bringing into the field.
Though you unlock three Hunters for free through story progression – Lee Joohee, Song Chiyul, and Yoo Jinho – you’ll be choosing to hire specific Hunters from a selection of potential new recruits.
When doing so, you’ll want to take a few things into account, like:
- Stats and skill trees, since each teammate you recruit, like Sung Jinwoo himself, will have an assortment of abilities they can strengthen over time.
- Weapon, element, and fighting class, with certain classes and their weapons better for certain tasks than others.
- Their potential for upgrades – you won’t get very far with weak teammates in the late game.
- How they fit into your team early on, since you’ll need to invest in unlocking every Hunter, so you’ll want to ensure you’re getting the best bang for your Hunter Coin bucks early on.
For our ranking, we’ve compared all 20 Hunters in Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive against one another at varying points in the game, and we’ve got recommendations on who is most worth the initial investment to recruit them. Hunters will high stats, damage potential, or special moves rank higher than those who don’t hit or heal as hard.

S-Tier Hunters
|
Name |
Element |
Role |
Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
|
Amamiya Mirei |
Wind |
Assassin |
Not only is Amamiya Mirei going to be one of your best choices for burst damage, she’ll also have Armor that gives her stellar defense while she deals it. |
|
Baek Yoonho |
Light |
Fighter |
If you’re a fan of the heavy playstyle required for Baek Yoonho, you’ll have great fun using his abilities for powerful DPS output with a good chance of surviving heavy attacks himself. |
|
Choi Jong-In |
Fire |
Mage |
With the highest base Attack stat of any Hunter in Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive, you’ll deal great amounts of damage both over time compounding with the Burn effect. Choi Jong-In also does good AoE damage to boot. |
|
Esil Radiru |
Fire |
Archer |
If you need a ranged attacker, look to Esil Radiru first. She fills the Break Meter faster than possibly any other ranged fighter, and she’s all but essential for Fire-based team comps to help compound damage output with debuffs. |
|
Woo Jinchul |
Wind |
Fighter |
Woo Jinchul offers stellar shielding for the team with modest cooldown times, and he’s got good break ability as well. Place him with just about any other Wind character and watch him shine. |
A-Tier Hunters
|
Name |
Element |
Role |
Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
|
Alicia Blanche |
Aqua |
Mage |
There’s maybe no better water Hunter than Alicia Blanche, who has the highest Aqua attack of any character yet. While you’ll need to be careful with where she is on the field, with relatively low HP, she more than makes up for the risk with her damage output. |
|
Cha Hae-In |
Light |
Fighter |
You’ll need to be good with Critical Hit Damage, since Cha Hae-In all but relies on stacking it, but learning to play with this Light Hunter can help you prevent enemies from healing themselves during battle, making her great for tougher late-game fights. |
|
Lee Bora |
Dark |
Mage |
If you need a character who can fill both DPS and Support roles, look no further than Lee Bora. You’ll want to work on upgrading both, but she’s a great multi-tool that can slot easily into most team comps. |
|
Lim Tae-Gyu |
Dark |
Archer |
If you’d like to make sure your enemies don’t have much safe ground on the battlefield, consider Lim Tae-Gyu’s excellent ranged attacks, which include but aren’t limited to nuclear attacks. If you’re a good aim with ranged fighters, Lim Tae-Gyu makes a great choice for your new team comp. |
|
Nam Chae-Young |
Aqua |
Archer |
If you’re not confident with where to keep Alicia Blanche for your ranged Aqua damage, consider bringing Nam Chae-Young instead. She’s more beginner-friendly, both for her playstyle and her recruitment difficulty, so she’ll be easier to get and learn to use for that role. |
B-Tier Hunters
|
Name |
Element |
Role |
Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
|
Emma Laurent |
Fire |
Tank |
As long as you keep stacking buffs on Emma Laurent to keep her safe, she’s able to offer some excellent team-wide buffs and an impressive damage output. |
|
Han Song-Yi |
Aqua |
Assassin |
You’ll need to put Han Song-Yi with a strong team to make her as viable as possible, since other Aqua Hunters deal significantly more damage, but she’s got great Burst damage and the ability to inflict the Poison effect to help drain enemies of their HP in the long-term. |
|
Kang Taeshik |
Dark |
Assassin |
Though you’ll need to keep an eye on him during close-range combat, Kang Taeshik is a great choice for early-game team comps. He specializes in afflicting and capitalizing on the Bleed effect, so pair him with other Hunters that can help compound that damage for the best outcome. |
|
Kim Chul |
Light |
Tank |
Despite a low individual DPS output, putting Kim Chul with the right team can really help make his team-wide buffs and shield break abilities shine. |
|
Park Heejin |
Wind |
Mage |
Park Heejin comes into fights ready to go with her attacks ready to help you deal impressive early-battle damage, but the cooldown times on said attacks can be a bit problematic in fights with more enemies or longer clear times. |
|
Song Chiyul |
Fire |
Mage |
Though you’ll deal more damage to enemies whose HP is low by using Song Chiyul, you may find that him having a smaller mana pool than other Hunters like him to be a tricky thing to combat. If you can, though, he has excellent Fire AoE attacks. |
C-Tier Hunters
|
Name |
Element |
Role |
Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
|
Lee Joohee |
Aqua |
Support |
For being a support character, you can find much better healing capabilities than Lee Joohee. With low base stats and unimpressive DPS, you’d be better off using another support. |
|
Min Byung-Gu |
Light |
Support |
Despite being a fairly solid supporting character, Min Byung-Gu is relatively weak on his own. His DPS output is negligible at best, and you’ll need quite a few upgrades to keep him viable into the end-game. |
|
Seo Jiwoo |
Aqua |
Tank |
Seo Jiwoo has one of the lowest damage outputs of the Tank Hunters in Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive, but she’s at least got fairly solid potential for shields. |
|
Yoo Jinho |
Light |
Tank |
You’ll essentially need just the right team comp to make Yoo Jinho a good teammate; he’s got good Tanking abilities but he’s not the best at outright DPS without several skill increases first. |
