Uniqlo Has Added Pokemon Options To Its Make Your Own Merch Range

Uniqlo added a very popular Monster Hunter range in 2024 that lets fans of the series design their own merch. Now, Pokemon is getting in on the fun as a whole new section dedicated to Ditto has been added to the UTme range.

Revealed today, and already available through Uniqlo’s Japanese site and at select Uniqlo stores in Japan, the UTme Pokemon expansion is called “Metamon is bad at transforming”. Metamon is Ditto’s Japanese name. As is the case with the Monster Hunter UTme range, the Pokemon expansion features stamps you can put on t-shirts, sweaters, and tote bags, and there are a lot of them to choose from.

142 of them, by my count, many of which feature Ditto, but there are also a lot of other Pokemon to choose from. I say Pokemon. Most of the other options are actually just Ditto after having used Transform to turn into different Pokemon. It’s the beady black eyes that give the little jelly Pokemon away.

Among those other options are Squirtle, Pikachu, Togepi, Slowpoke, and Wobbuffet. There are a handful of stamps that include regular Pokemon which aren’t just Ditto transformations, too, although they are all accompanied by at least one regular Ditto. There’s a Ditto Slowpoke with a Ditto Magikarp biting its tail, Ditto climbing on a Snorlax, and my favorite stamp of all, a real Spheal with a smaller Ditto Spheal gleefully running alongside it.

Pokemon’s newest plushes are all Ditto in disguise.

There’s also a stamp of Cramorant trying to eat a Ditto which, I won’t lie to you, I want to blow up as big as Uniqlo will let me and put it alone on the chest of a plain white tee.

The Pokemon stamps are accompanied by an array of hearts, stars, and other designs you can use to make a Pokemon t-shirt that, if you’re imaginative enough, will be unique to you. Not only do you choose what goes on the merch, but you even decide where it’s placed and how big it will appear, which means the shirts and bags you make will almost certainly be one-of-a-kind.

The Pokemon section of the UTme range is live right now with prices starting from 1,500 yen, which is less than $10. Unfortunately, it’s exclusively available in Japan, and unlike other Uniqlo crossovers, it might not make it to the US and elsewhere. It’s been more than a year since the Monster Hunter line launched, and it remains a Japanese Uniqlo exclusive.
