Ubisoft and Assassin’s Creed Shadows keep us guessing with every news story. Over a week ago, the company delayed an investor call at the last minute, prompting rumours of a takeover. It turned out that the company is actually doing pretty well and Shadows sold way beyond expectations.
More recently, Shadows’ Attack on Titan crossover was slammed for featuring terrible cutscenes. And, despite its success, the game’s second expansion has been scrapped. Now it seems that the series will be bringing back Kassandra from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and even plans to keep her around for future content.
Kassanda Could Possibly Return To Assassin’s Creed
In the most recent update, Shadows finally added references to The Isu, the precursor race that featured heavily in the pre-RPG era. There was also a reference to Kassandra and other protagonists from previous games. We’ve already seen Kassandra make an appearance in AC Valhalla, now that she’s immortal, but associate game director Simon Lemay-Comtois hints that she might have a meatier role in the future.
“We really want to see Kassandra in there,” said Lemay-Comtois in an interview with JorRaptor (thanks, GamesRadar). “And, yes, she’s immortal at this point in time and she could very well show up in Japan, so we kind of connected the dots together. Without revealing what it is, we made up a story of when she went to Japan. What did she do there? She did more, ostensibly, than just put stuff in a cave.”
He revealed that she obviously didn’t carry all this stuff across the world by herself and probably had a whole crew to help her. But all of this wasn’t just a fun Easter egg Lemay-Comtois explained. “We have a justification for why there is a Kassandra statue brought by Kassandra in a cave. We might reveal it at some point later. We did our homework. We [didn’t] just drop Kassandra there. And this is not the last Isu content there will be in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.”
I’ve Already Forgotten Everything That Happens In Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Shadows might have perfected the RPG combat, but it’s by far one of the most forgettable Assassin’s Creed games to date.
Based on this information, it looks like Kassandra could be a recurring character in the future of the series. Perhaps she’ll take on a sort of mentorship role for future protagonists.
