Expedition 33 Actor Thanks Fans And Charlie Cox For Support

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is currently running a victory lap at the moment, celebrating its whopping 12 different nominations at The Game Awards, as well as its massive haul of awards at the Golden Joysticks. Among those TGA nominations, Gustave actor Charlie Cox managed to grab himself one for Best Performance, alongside Verso and Maelle actors Ben Starr and Jennifer English respectively.

Given that the role of Gustave has been one of Cox’s only roles in video games so far, he’s understandably a little more humble about the whole thing, and recently warmed the hearts of every Clair Obscur fan on the planet by claiming that Gustave’s motion capture actor — Maxence Cazorla – probably deserves the nomination more than he does. Cox also claimed that Gustave’s performance in the game was “down to him” and that his voice was “just part of that process.” Very wholesome stuff.

Understandably, being name-dropped by Daredevil sent a lot of eyes towards Cazorla, who appears to have been bombarded with appreciation ever since Cox said he was more deserving of the nomination than him. At least, that’s what Cazorla himself seems to suggest, as he recently reached out to Clair Obscur fans on Twitter to thank them for the love and support.

Charlie Cox Says He’s Getting A Console Just To Play Clair: Obscur Expedition 33 After High Praise

He hasn’t played a game apparently since Super Mario 64.

In his tweet, Cazorla says that he’s “truly grateful” for Cox’s words that he thought were “incredibly generous.” He then keeps things nice and wholesome by stressing that “bringing Gustave to life was a team effort” and that he was “honored to have played [his] part in it.” It’s a lovely little pass the parcel of compliments, and I guess proof that the team at Sandfall is quite close with each other.

That being said, we definitely wouldn’t have had such an incredible game without the work and talent of Cazorla, who not only did the mocap movement for Gustave, but Verso and Renoir as well. He’s also the voice of Esquie too, so it’s pretty clear that he’s a talented individual, and it’s nice to see someone as high profile as Charlie Cox making sure he gets his flowers.
