Resident Evil Village’s Lady Dimitrescu Would Love To Reprise The Role, But It’s In Capcom’s Hands

Maggie Robertson burst onto the scene in 2021 with her bombastic portrayal of Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village. Despite only playing a relatively minor role in what was a much larger story, the character and Robertson’s performance captured the hearts of Village’s audience, cementing her place as one of the series’ all-time great villains, and earning her a win at 2021’s The Game Awards for Best Performance.

“You’re Seeing The Next Chapter In The Overall Storyline”: Resident Evil Requiem’s Director And Producer Discuss Returning To Raccoon City, Lessons From The Past, And The Mysterious Hooded Figure

We dove deep into all things Resident Evil Requiem with Capcom at Tokyo Games Show.

The star, who also portrayed Orin the Red in Baldur’s Gate 3, has mentioned how the role of Lady D changed her life, and the trajectory of her career, and in a new interview with TheGamer ahead of her hosting The Golden Joystick Awards, Robertson has discussed how she’d love to step back into the character’s giant shoes, but it’s all down to Capcom.

With Robertson and Dimitrescu still featuring heavily in Capcom’s marketing, most recently during Summer Game Fest to promote Requiem, I asked her whether she thought the company regretted killing off the character.

“Oh god, I can’t speak for them,” she exclaimed. “But for me, how cool is it that a character that wasn’t in the game for that long was able to have such a huge impact. It’s a really positive thing; we really found something with her. You killed her off, but she still managed to build this really loyal following. We did something right.”

I pushed Robertson on whether she thought Capcom would bring the character back, given its penchant for having characters return from the dead in the Resident Evil series. “Would I like to return to her? Of course, the answer to that is always going to be yes,” she tells me. “Do I have any idea what Capcom’s plans for her are? Absolutely not. I’m just a lowly actor. I’ll find out when you do,” she adds with a wry smile.

Would I like to return to her? Of course, the answer to that is always going to be yes,

She tells me there is still dialogue between herself and Capcom, especially given the recent commercials, and says it’s “very exciting to still be in their orbit,” but she remains clueless as to what’s next.

Given the explosion in popularity of the character following the release of Village, it’s hard to imagine that Capcom doesn’t harbor at least a little regret for killing her off. There’s no doubt a return for the character would be a money-printing machine for Capcom, so it feels like more of a case of when, not if.
