Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Fan Project Adds Cable, Professor X And More To Roster

While many fighting games have thrived in this current era, including recent releases for Tekken, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, plus revivals of things like Fatal Fury, if you’re a Marvel vs. Capcom fan, then things could not be worse.

Sure, we received Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, which finally brought forward MvC 2 to modern hardware, but as far as new things are concerned, there’s not been anything since Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite in 2017, and most fans would probably like to forget its existence.

That said, thanks to a fan project, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has received several new roster members. Sure it’s not a brand-new game, but it’ll have to do.

As first spotted by EventHubs, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Community Edition, a fan-made project that has kept the last true Marvel vs. Capcom title alive, is adding Darkstalkers’ Demitri Maximoff, Robbie Reyes AKA Ghost Rider, Professor X (Krakoa version), Cable (finally!!!) and Street Fighter’s Dudley to the roster.

There’s an entire 10-minute debut trailer, which is well worth the watch, especially if you want to see some of these characters in action. That said, if you want to go ahead and experience the characters for yourself, the fan project’s Nexus Mods page has been updated with the latest files so you can expand your roster.

With those characters being added, the roster, as EventHubs noted, is now up to 73 fan-made characters. Yes, 73 characters straight from a group of fans who’ve come together to keep an excellent crossover fighter alive. In the past, the likes of Ultron, Leon, Venom, Carnage and Mega Man X have all been added to the game, making the Community Edition arguably the best way to experience MvC 3.

Hopefully, we won’t have to wait that much longer for any crumb of news related to a potential Marvel vs. Capcom 4. But in the event the game never comes, or it’s as mediocre as Infinite was, then at least we’ll have the UMvC 3 fan project to fall back on, and so long as Capcom and Marvel keep cooking up new characters, it seems like the team of content creators won’t have any qualms about figuring out how they fit into Marvel vs. Capcom proper.
