Fairfield is one of the first main locations you visit in The Outer Worlds 2. The community is run by Minister Milverstreet and Officer Kaur. The pair both want what’s best for Fairfield and are loyal to Auntie’s Choice. Beyond those things, though, they are completely different.
Therefore, you can only side with one of them. If you choose Officer Kaur, then you need to sabotage the Automech Repair Center. This means completing the Above and Beyond Repair quest. Here is everything you need to do to accomplish that.
Starting The Quest
You start the quest by agreeing to side with Officer Kaur. In the conversation with her, she informs you about the Automech Repair Center and tells you to sabotage it.
Before you actually travel to the Center, you need to decide on your method of getting inside the place. Your three options are:
- Use ARC access credentials.
- Talk your way in.
- Shoot your way in.
For the latter two, you can go straight to the Automech Repair Center. To use ARC access credentials, though, you first must travel to the Ministry of Accuracy.
Get Credentials From The Ministry Of Accuracy
You need to head Northwest from Fairfield to find the Ministry of Accuracy.
When you get there, you will find some hostile creatures stopping you from entering.
Eliminate them, then head inside the main building.
There is another building outside you can search, but it doesn’t impact the quest.
Once inside, go around the corner to meet Inez. After that conversation, go through the only unlocked door to find more adversaries.
Take them out, then climb the ladder. Go around the corner, jump over the big gap in the path, and then interact with the terminal.
Once in the terminal, press ‘ALERT: Overdue Deliverable,’ followed by ‘Print Euphoria ARC Pass.’ This gets you your pass, and you’re now ready to travel to the Automech Repair Center.
Get Inside The Automech Repair Center
The Automech Repair Center is in the Southeast corner of the map. When you get there, speak with the people at the entrance.
If you have the access credentials, you can just show them to get in.
Alternatively, you can use an engineering two and then a speech three skill check, or an engineering three skill check, to talk your way inside. Your other option is to start killing everyone at the place, but this will rob you of some additional quests, conversations, and vendors.
Talk with Marshal Donelson
Assuming everyone is still alive, go further into the center and talk with Marshal Donelson to learn more about what’s happening at the Center.
He will ask for your assistance with the Zyranium Gas leak. Agree to help even if you have no intention of actually helping. This will make him point you in the direction of Dr. Delphinia Bryant.
You can find her a bit deeper into the facility. Her area is right next to the medical center. It’s one of the places that has a few gears on a sign above the entrance.
Talking with her begins the An Aegis Against the Miasma quest. Do this quest to get the Zyranium Gas shield. A full walkthrough of that quest can be found here.
How To Get Inside The Center
Once you have the shield for the gas (the Gas-Energy Deflection Apparatus device), head to the big hole in the wall that has gas coming out of it.
When you get up close, activate your device, and walk through the gas. The shield only works for a limited time, so don’t linger in the gas; just walk straight through.
Sabotage the Facility
If you go through with sabotaging the facility, you will automatically fail the Vanquishing the Vexing Vapors quest. However, you need to do the sabotage to complete Above and Beyond Repair.
When you’re inside, go down the small slope and head through the vent there.
Keep going through this until you reach the other side, where you will find some bots. Eliminate them.
Then, get ready to head into the next room, which is filled with gas. So, open the door, activate the shield, and finally, run to the terminal.
Access it and select ‘seal room and vent gas.’ This makes the room habitable again.
Now, press the following options on the terminal:
- ‘Access Flow Control System.’
- ‘Initiate Zyranium Flow Shutdown.’
- ‘Override Safety Measures and Perform Shutdown.’
- ‘Disregard Safety and Perform Shutdown.’
Doing this means you’ve successfully sabotaged the Automech Repair Center.
Return To Kaur
With the place successfully sabotaged, you can just leave using the door to your left as you’re looking at the terminal.
Then, make your way back to Fairfield and speak with Kaur to finish the quest.
