Pokemon players can be a pretty impatient bunch, and honestly, I count myself among their number. With the game’s lack of voice acting, it can be pretty easy to mash past dialogue you’re not overly invested in, just to get your reward and be on your merry way. That’s fine in pretty much any other Pokemon game besides Legends: Z-A though, which has side quests that are a bit more in-depth and unique than the rest of the series.
For example, throughout Lumiose City, you’ll find plenty of NPCs that want you to bring them certain Pokemon that have very specific requirements, usually regarding their size. There are a couple of them that want you to hand over the Pokemon that you’ve found, making their intentions pretty clear from the outset, but it seems as though a rather alarming number of fans are accusing these poor NPCs of stealing their Pokemon, some of which have been those all-important shinys.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A NPCs Are Stealing Shiny Pokemon
One of these fans is Reddit user Gay_Pink_Dragon (an incredible name by the way), who accidentally managed to give away their shiny Pumpkaboo, not realizing that the quest giver was going to take it as part of the quest. In the post embedded above, we can actually see quest giver Taille standing proudly in front of a line of Pumpkaboo, one of them a deep purple, while also next to a probably very dejected Gay_Pink_Dragon.
Astonishingly, they’re not the only player that’s lost their Pokemon this way. In the comments of Gay_Pink_Dragon’s post, you can find another called Unknown Ghost-0 who shares a screenshot of the shiny Gogoat that they accidentally gave away as part of Side Quest 63, which has you finding a Gogoat for a man to help with his business. In fact, just last week, a similar Reddit post by a user called VillainWhale took issue with this guy stealing their Gogoat, though theirs, thankfully, wasn’t shiny.
Sure, you can accuse these poor NPCs of stealing Pokemon, but your argument definitely wouldn’t hold up in a court of law. Both NPCs rather clearly state that they want to keep the Pokemon you find for them for good, so if you’re yet to actually complete these side quests, make sure to read exactly what these guys want from you. I guess this just proves once and for all that Pokemon games desperately need voice acting.
