Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition may be launching digitally today, but it’ll also be getting a well-deserved physical release a little later on in the year.
Last night’s State of Play showcase was packed with massive announcements, from the reveal of a God of War trilogy remake to the unveiling of the long-rumoured John Wick game. As great as all of those (and way more) were, though, my favourite of the bunch was the return of one of platforming’s biggest icons – Rayman.
As has been rumoured for some time now, the big Rayman announcement was for a 30th Anniversary Edition of the first game, which includes five different versions, a museum focused on the thingamajig’s creation, and even a playable version of the SNES prototype. Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition is available now digitally, but it’s also getting a physical version soon.
Rayman’s Big Birthday Remaster Is Getting A Physical Release
I Need Those Stickers
Over on YouTube, Atari shared a trailer showcasing the physical edition of Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition, which is going to retail for $29.99 and ship on June 26. While that does mean waiting an extra four months to get your hands on the remaster, it does come with some snazzy extras that I think most fans (myself included) are going to want.
Beyond getting a physical copy of the game with the new 30th Anniversary cover, Atari’s release comes with a few extra goodies, including a set of three postcards and a double-sided poster. The real gem of the physical edition, though, is a reusable set of stickers and a backdrop, which let you pose Rayman however you want.
I’m not entirely sure how “reusable” stickers even work, but it sounds a little like a magnet board. Considering how many physical editions come with stickers that simply never leave the box, it’s nice to see something a bit more inventive for Rayman that you might actually end up displaying.
Pre-orders for the physical version of Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition are live on the Atari website now, but it’s not currently clear if they’re exclusive or can be found at other retailers. Either way, it’s a very good day for Rayman fans.
